Super Ferry

Does the super ferry dock close to you on the Big Island?

I'm on Oahu, and starting to record bands at a small studio here (Vibe Asylum). Been assisting for a while and now finally getting my own clientele.

I see a few bands go to the big island to record at (i think) Big Dawg Studios...would love to be able to give them more info to send your way. Not to mention...I wouldn't mind stopping by either!

bitter sweet update

Well this is not the update I wanted to give......

It was a great 3 year run but things got pretty bad the past 6 months and I recently had to close the studio. Stripped it down and rebuilding on land we own this time around.

Met a bunch of great people, learned a hell of a lot and had the time of my life. Was just starting to get pretty good at mixing, mastering engineer told me he barely had to touch my last project.

Yeah it kills me but life goes on plan B!

Good news (if any) is that new studio will be up in about 3 months
with significantly lower overhead I can get back to making music and having fun again.
High overhead sure kills the fun that’s for sure!

on the bright side of things it’s the 1st time in 3 years I have slept without serious stress keeping me up.

Got some gear for sale noooooooooooooooooooooooo

Tonelux with Sterling modular and 3 tt patchbays 35k
Spider (older version 96k Ees Ebu) 4.6k
Mytek adda 192 with hd card $2.5k
Quartet II 3.8 k
Vipre 1.6k
C2 Comp $2.5k
JL f112 sub 2k
Meyer cp10 eq (Bob Hodas Mod) 1k

I'm sorry to hear that. Biz here is very slow. I'm over on Oahu and "building out" a very modest room to work out of. Vocal booth will be a significant portion of the entire room (singular). Fortunately my overhead is very low, as I'm sharing a space with other creative professionals, but I surely look forward to a time when I can move out and up.

Seti, so sorry to hear the news. I'm on Oahu and the depth of this recession never ceases to amaze me. You are a true pioneer for putting your own money up and trying to make a go of it on the Big ISland.

Personally, I think you did the right thing by moving to land you own. Always the better way to go in Hawaii. Leasehold is a killer!

Good luck with the new place and i'm glad you'll get to sleep better at night, at the very least.

Peace =)

Very sorry to hear Seti. Best of luck with the new venture.
The build concepts you implemented in your facility were very smart and good looking Isn't your Tonelux being used as a "display" model for either Tonelux or Sterling (maybe both). Anyway, nice job. I'm sure your new spot will be just as cool. Hopefully, the lower overhead allows you to sleep better as well. I enjoyed watching thebuild. I'll look forward to the new adventure.
All the best!! thumbsup
