Making it happen

Hello Seti:

It sounds like your dream is coming true. Having a general contractor in the family is worth its weight in gold. My experience in Hawaii and Alaska is that capable general contractors are very busy and hard, if not impossible, to find.

Can you show us some pics of the outside of your place?

Tell us about the blue/green "knobs" on the floor! What are they (obviously isolation, but what makeup are they?).

Aloha Midnightsun

Please look me up next time you are on island!

I'm going to take some pictures of my surroundings tomorrow.

Almost directly in front of me is the beach, behind me is Hualalaii mountain

I sort of have an ocean view, not the best but you can see the ocean and sunsets are beautiful!

I'm about 1 minute from the beach and a popular surf break

More info on my studio on the way

WOW!!!

You guys are really rolling along. Rock on. This place will be up in no time!

Quick question for you Seti - Forgive me if I missed this elsewhere in the thread but do you have a flooplan already laid out as for, well, how the whole place will lay out??

If so can you post the plans/drawing, etc.??

It would be great to see how you envision it to be an then watch it take shape.

I built some studios over here in germany and we used Sylomer

http://www.rrg.de/sylomer.php

which is a polymer specifically built for vibration-isolation of big machines etc.
you have to calculate the weight of the decoupled construction up to 15-20% exactly for it to work properly, though.

what´s everyone else using for decoupling btw??

It's just beautiful.

That floor cut between the rooms nearly brought a tear, it's so straight and perfect..

Ah, the way it should be...

Man, I sure get excited about new builds

Seti, on the design plans it wouldn't even have to be in 3 dimensions. Even just an overhead view of the various rooms and general shape, even leave out the exact measurements if you have to. Sort of just a general 'here's the layout' kind of thing would be cool to see.

Seti, curious, what sort of a warehouse space is this? What's the size of it all? Does it have plumbing/bathrooms already?

I'm curious because we're planning on doing a similar build later next year and the "warehouse space" concept seems to be the most efficient way of doing it... just no idea where to look for such a nice enclosed space...

Congrats on your amazing progress thus far!
