You may notice in these pictures that the new interior block filling the windows and doors has also been painted white. Several texts and references noted that materials with porous surfaces (e.g. cinder block) can get a measurable bump in their STC ratings with a simple coat of paint.
Our block is extremely porous, and it drinks the paint up pretty quickly (in this case it was a high quality exterior primer). |

These two shots were taken from the side door:
The wood holding the expansion joint in place gets taken out while the concrete is drying: |

We're going to have stained concrete floors, so a lot of time and attention was spent getting the finish right: |

The workers stayed until around 9pm tending to the drying slab:
Then I came back and sat in the future control room for a couple beers: |

Once again, the wood framing inside the trenches is dismantled. This time, it leaves the trenches in their finished size, with a lip all the way around that a lid can sit in: |

Now we're getting ready to pour the slab under the lounge, and also the ADA ramp from the back of the property (ADA parking space) to the side door: |

We were trying to give ourselves more conduit diameter and more options down the line by running both a 15" and a 5" from console trough to credenza... but at the last minute -- as the concrete was being poured -- a worker put the 5" inside the 15". Which is worthless, obviously.
I actually discovered what happened as I was walking around taking these pictures. And yes, we've already cut the 5" out and thrown it away.

And the lounge slab is poured. Can see that the exterior wall of the building has been repaired. We also moved the doorway slightly. |

I bought some stained glass to put in the front of the church. The windows are about 12 feet high and about 4 feet wide. The were salvaged from a church in Peshtigo, Wisconsin (which prompted me to learn about the Peshtigo fire of 1871). I am told that they're around 120 years old.
I plan to do a bit more research to find out exactly what happened to the church where they came from (the church was likely Catholic, based on the artwork). Anybody in Wisconsin with any info, feel free to PM me.

Awesome! Love the look and feel of your studio (so far...). Looking forward to seeing it all come together! It seems like everything is going smoothly and you chose the right contractors. Good luck with the rest!
