That charcoal-colored sample is going to be the countertop on the credenza as well as the countertop in the lounge. The blue tile will be the backsplash:

One limitation we're facing is a lack of square footage in the closets. So we're trying to mitigate that a bit by using the space above the hallways for storage. This is looking from the live room down the side sound lock. The ceiling is at about 7 1/2 feet. Then there's a storage area above that ceiling that's about 4 feet high... big enough to hold guitar cases, a drum kit, a wurlitzer, etc.

At the back of the hallway is another hatch that gives access to the air handler that serves the control room:

OK, here's something I'm excited about. We're about to start the stone work around the window in the live room. This temporary wood trim is a guide to the brick mason:

Been working ridiculously long hours at the studio... and the more time I spend working, the less I spend on everything else, including uploading photos.

So this blog has gotten way behind the actual construction. I'll try to get us caught up.

Hanging clouds in the live room. They guys built themselves a temporary platform to work from. For a day or two, we had a two-story live room:

This fabric-covered wall panel was the first one constructed. The frame was made on-site, and then the upholsterer took it to sew the fabric. The pattern comes off the bolt upright, and the bolt of fabric is only 54" wide, so he had to cut multiple fabric strips and sew them together side-to-side.

This one was brought back over to dry-fit before he moved on to the rest of the building.

I shot a couple more pictures as they carried it back to the upholsterer's van. You're getting a preview of the live room here, because that stone on the trailer is the grey limestone that's about to go up around the window:
