Thread Starter | Non Studio room help. Best I can make out of this?
Well first things first, I'm no audio engineer. I'm a musician, and even though do know a couple of things about audio, im far from competent in getting the best sound out of something like a (good) audio person. Altough I like to learn, and I want to keep learning, I am seeking a quick fix from those knowledgeble in acoustics for this situation. Room is about 13" long "8 wide 8 tall. I recently moved into an apartment where I have limited space and limited way of doing things correctly. So I want to figure out what's the best thing I can do with the space I have. I'm not looking to do a high quality super studio but just something that can fix some issues that I have. Im not looking into recording anything that isn't DI or sampled. So it's just for playback technically. I know probably everything is erroneous in my small room. Things im looking to do mostly- Practice Keys Listen to music Compose and Arrange with VST Ear Training stuff Doing basic mixes for personal use Problems- Speakers-I know speaker position is probably bad. But besides stereo image, two or three things. They're a set of Mackie HR824. Comparing it to a pair of Senheiser headphones they sound sort of dead. Mid Lows are sounding pretty muddy and highs just dont feel lush, more like compressed or something. I think they sound pretty natural compared to other normal speakers. However the Mud I must get riid of. Also bass response from where im sitting is sometimes very more booming than detailed(frustrating when practicing piano and ear)...this goes away in any other part of the room. Vocals (depending on the mix) are sometimes drowned out. Anyways considering the price(though I didn't buy them) of these speakers well I'd like to get the best out of them. Outside Noises- I live in the city and I would really like to kill at least some percent of outside noise(no not people) especially the ones that come through the window. I cant even sleep well sometimes. Indoor Noises- Other people live here too...and they tend to watch alot of comedy movies or listen to their own music. So any cheap solution for the door? Another bigger desk for the monitors and keyboard is on the way...however the only position for it is right where the old one is. Also I plan to put a medium sized tv and semi decent speakers the right side(looking from the door) of the room in front of the bed someday so any help with that would be good. Any recommendations? This is my first post here so take it easy on me please. And sorry about those flowers...I swear they were there before I arrived. I'll paint sometime.Hope im not asking too much. ![]() Here are the images since I can't post attachments they're on imageshack ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting |
