Hello everyone. Thanks again for the good words. I took some time off and now am back to finishing what I started.

Here are the space couplers finally built. Now I just have to paint and hang them this coming week. The materials for the 3 were under $60 which isn't too bad considering I've seen a set of 2 sell for $300 at Guitar Center.

I am also starting the rear diffuser and have cut OC Formular into 2"X2" strips so I can now cut all the just under 500 required 0.1cm-21.4cm squares per Mr. Brandt's instructions. Oy vey! Me thinks I some more Formular!

I will post more updates this coming week. Once it is all finished I will try and figure out how to do the EQ room testing (never done it before) and post the......hopefully good....results, although it sure sounds great to my 42 year old ears.

I have a question for you:

I love how you integrated the keyboard into the desk. What is that exactly and how did you do it?! I've been wanting to do exactly that myself for ages!

I gutted a Studiologic SL990 down to just the keyboard, the mod/pitchwheel, and the connectors area. I then built the desktop with sliding shelf (that slides over keyboard) and placed it on a 15 year old Omnirax desk. I'm hoping to build something from scratch by next year using a Doepfer keyboard, but for now this works.

Great to see your progress, Quantum7!

In case you don't know, Doepfer is using Fatar keybeds. I don't know if they're the same as in the studiologic series, but worth checking up before you invest. Doepfer wrote on their website that fatar has discontinued their keybeds and replaced them with new ones, but I don't know anything about difference in quality.

Keep up the good work!

If I'm being honest I did not have high hopes when I first saw your room - "a studio in a bedroom - big deal". But wow, I am totally blown away. You took a bedroom in your home and turned it into an amazing studio space. I can't tell you how impressed I am. You did a great job and you're an inspiration to everyone with a spare room and a studio dream.

Thanks! I took 10,000 Popsicle sticks and........ I actually just followed the instructions per Mr. Brandt's PDF's and used mostly inexpensive plywood in the construction. I cannot post those instructions, but feel free to ask him and perhaps he can divulge more. JH Brandt - Recording Studio Design & Acoustics Home

prkm,

Cut your 3" (or so) strips X 2' (or so). Make it smaller if you want to lay them in a hung ceiling to fit in the grid.. (measurements to include thickness of boarder frame.
Cut TEETH into the strips 1/2 way down the thickness of the plywood.
So you can line up the notches (teeth) and slide them together. Notice: the x plain wood is solid going thru and the y plain wood pieces stop and start at each x piece of wood. If you turn it over, the y plain wood would be solid from one end to the other and the x plain would would start and stop at the y plain wood.

Got to get out a tape measure and use your noggin. Use a t square to make pencil lines and keep it square. Use glue for internal notched wood. Alittle tight won't hurt (make sure when you bang them together you use another piece of wood between your project wood and hammer so you don't dimple the heck out of your project) .

Glue and finishing nails to the frame.

You should be good with your hands and have some of the right tools.

Also note: it will take some time and effort, as does alot of the treatment projects. If your spending some time cutting measuring painting or polyurethaning, and a few dollars on wood, fastening, and finishing products.... and depending on what your time is worth. Sometimes it may be better to pick them up for 100/150 bucks a piece and be done.

Nice job Quantum. They look great!

OK, I finally got around to putting up the space couplers. Please excuse the unexciting photos, as my wife is the better photographer, but was not available to take them for me.

You may notice the middle hanging crooked a bit, but that will be fixed next week when I get another chain and hook up in the center towards the front wall.

Now I can get around to the rear diffuser.

[QUOTE=Quantum7;6851360] I have utilized Mr. John Brandt's JH Brandt - Recording Studio Design & Acoustics Home services in the build.

After seeing how great your studio build turn out I decided to utilized Mr. John Brandt service for my studio design. I will finish some clients songs next week and have Mr. Brandt design my new studio.

Mr. Brandt is great guy and very helpful with all the question I had. My room sounds good and translate well but I have some low mid problems I need to fix. I want to fix my room acoustic with a knowledgeable designer and be done with it.

Quantum7 your studio looks great and I wish I would have paid for a studio designer years ago.
