my apartment, mixing room

Here are some photos of my current setup, and some pictures along the way.

I'm really interested in what y'all think, and your ideas on how I can improve.

It started a few months ago, when I realized I wanted to ditch my living room. Half of the space in my apartment was for a room that was mainly used for watching TV (I didn't have cable, and it got to the point where I thought it was a waste of space). So I moved my computer out of my bedroom, and take a look.

This is the only picture I have of the living room / kitchen area, its when I first moved in.

Here is the first incarnation of the home studio

Once I decided that I was never going to record drums at home (I have a really sweet room at the studio where I work) - I figured, why not get the kit out of here, and make this a better mixing room.

Things I'm going to add—— and please feel free to chime in with your ideas
  • Just ordered curtains from target, those will go up next week.
  • Some -to be determined- kind of treatment for the refrigerator door, im pretty sure thats a direct reflection.
  • What is best for first order reflections? I might change out the q'fusors on the side wall with foam. I'm not sure what is going to be best for my room. Anybody have any thoughts on that?
  • Maybe the other part of that sofa, in place of the keyboard/table
  • Another Himalayan rock salt lamp, (killer vibe)
  • Something to make the front wall, the one with foam, look cooler.
  • I'd like to take measurements of my room, but need to search around the forums a little more before I do

It looks like your main problem will be how you have a close wall on the left and a big space on the right - to me the fridge looks too far back to cause an early reflection. You'll need some very good absorption on that wall e.g. thick rockwool trap. I think the absorption on the front wall isn't serving any significant purpose..

Hi Anthony,
I definitely think that rockwool traps are a great idea. I just sat here for about 15 minutes staring at the wall envisioning them - I think I'll make two 2'x6' panels and hang them in place of the picture frames / q'fusor. Thank you for your suggestion!
