Well... Not quite. We first had to cut and shape all of the tubing and prep it for welding. Here is the frame side assembly line:

I usually weld up the hole, re-drill it with a #21 drill and run a 10/32 tap through it. You can also clearance drill the stripped hole and weld (or even JB weld) a 10/32 nut to the backside of the rack rail.

Today's Progress

We made alot of progress today (that these pictures don't do justice). We built the rack frame handles that will be attached to the top of each rack frame and will serve as both a handle for swinging out the rack and as a foot for the rack to rest in the floor when the rack is fully open. Here is the view from the top of the handle:

Lastly, we assembled the kick risers, attached them to the cabinets, and attached the cabinets together.
Here they are upside down. (eaiser to move and work on)

Today's Progress!

So we continued with the sanding and cabinet details today.

I built the Steel Hinge Brackets today. They reinforce the corners and transfer the rack frame load to a larger part of the cabinet instead of localizing it in a few square inches:

While I was building the brackets, my Dad was sanding and staining some of the finish parts.

This is one of the sidepieces. This first stain coat will serve as a sanding guide. Showing us where we need to smooth the surface out:

These Support Strips show how the top cabinet venting will work. Several large holes will be drilled in the spaces in-between the strips. Since the top will rest on the strips the air will flow out through the space in-between:
