effects of columns and alcoves in a tracking room

Hi Slutz,
I´m thinking of building a studio in a Berlin Kreuzberg basement, attached the ground plans. There was a studio before, but no treatment was made by the old owner.
Any experiences on how the 2 columns in the room would influence the sound (haven´t tried it yet). IN a positive or negative way ?

There are also 2 alcoves in the tracking room, that i want to convert to iso/booths´s and the control room isn´t symmetrical. Ceiling height is 3,80 without isolation, dimensions show the naked room without any treatment.
Any thoughts appreciated ! stikestikestike

I think that the choices you make regarding the alcoves in the tracking room will have more impact on the sound than the columns will. Round columns have been effectively used as dispersive elements and you could consider adding absorption and/or diffusion to them, but I wouldn't expect a huge effect unless you made the treatments themselves very large. I'd be tempted to use at least one of the alcoves as a bass trap. Lots of options with that room and it's nice that you have some height to work with.

The columns will be transmitting noise and vibration from the building directly into the recording space.

Did you do noise measurements inside/outside?
