Wall painting question.

I'm in the process of painting my studio but i'm not sure if i bought the wrong paint. I painted 1 wall to grey with 2 coats but the finish seems very dull and dead.

I was wondering how do you get such a finish or painting job like the one in this picture with the grey color.

kind of like shiny / matt ..

looks like a good quality satin finish which is slightly less reflective than a semi-gloss and way more than a flat paint. it's fairly popular in kitchens and bathrooms (or other moisture areas) because you get a deep finish with a touch of reflection but not the glossiness of semi-gloss or gloss paints. coupled with a semi-gloss on the trim and a flat paint on the ceiling it can really create some depth.

Being a kitchen, I'm guessing it's semi-gloss.

The flatter the paint, the better it hides wall imperfections and cuts down reflections, but it's very hard to clean. The glossier the paint, the more it shows imperfections, bounces light, and is easier to keep clean.

Generally for interior walls you would want to use eggshell and flat for the ceiling with the exception of bathrooms and kitchens where you'd use semi-gloss because of moisture and muck.

I used eggshell for the walls in my studio.
