Studio The Church

Hello all,

My first post on this forum. A friend of mine thought you all would like to see the progress of my new studio here in Holland. It's an old church rebuild in 1608 that I'm converting into my new studio.

Here's a site where you can see the progress so far:
www.studio.reyn.net

Cheers,

Reyn

This thread has potential of becoming one of the most mindblowing threads in this section. Keep updating!

How awesome would it be to have something like that to build a studio in.. And to have the needed finances sorted too.

This looks absolutely fantastic!

I wanted to do this a few years ago with an old church in Liverpool. It was, and still remains, a distant dream though

Holy damn, awesome stuff!
I hope more of these "to be obsolete" churches will go to better use like this in the future.

Excellent! The most famous recording studio of all time Columbia Records Studio A in NYC was in fact an old church. It was HUGE 100 ft high ceilings! But its been said that it was the best sounding recording studio ever made.

After seeing the photos I'm in awe! This is by far the most amazing church conversion I've ever seen and that its going to be a recording studio is simply sublime. I truly hope that clients will be lined up around the block for the privilege of recording in such a splendid space!

Haha, well, maybe this one is more generally appreciated and gives a nice view of the church before the construction:
YouTube - Reyn vs Björk - I've Seen It All

I put some new photo's on my website from last week's work. This week they're working now on the new ceiling of the recording room. Looks very impressive. I'll put some pics of that on the website later this week.

Myself I've been busy all day pulling a pool table apart and putting it in storage... I still feel sore... heavy bastards!!.. :-)

Cheers,

Reyn

Ik ben best jaloers nu.

Anyway, the plans look amazing.

I'm a christian so the fact so many churches in Holland are becoming obsolete because of lack of interest saddens my heart a bit, but man... it seems like such a great place to build a studio like that.

I'm curious to see how it will look finished.

Hi Reyn,

Hope all's well!?

This is ****ING AMAZING!

When you said a church, you didn't say it was almost like a cathedral!

Good luck with it!

Looking really nice Reyn.
where in the Netherlands is this located?, somewhere in the centre judging from the buildstyle?

What will happen to the rest of the church building? Will that also become studio space or will that be a livingroom?
And what about such an iconing church tower?
And what happened to the organ that was in that church, you don't want a church organ in your studio?

Amazing!

We also are converting a big church... But no worries for competition, we're located in the new world! Chicoutimi, Qc, Canada... Our master acoustician has just finished plans... I thought of releasing them soon! Otherwise, this is a project that has been ongoing for the past 2 years, so we have a web site, check it out! We've also done a couple of test recordings, they can be found in the blog...

www.recordingchurch.com

Here's a picture of it:

FYI, you might want to know there's a Church-studio in the US that also bares the name of "The Church"...

Also, PM me your phone, it'd be great to have a priesthood talk!

First studio construction thread featuring a giant crane hovering over the roof (The Bridge didn't have one like that, I believe...). Should get some kind of award. Impressive.
