Hi Marc, just checked your blog - great project...good job the dodgy beams were ID'ed at the beginning. I worked on a similar-sized building for catering use so I appreciate what hard work it can be...but of course worth it for the end result.
Good luck.

Yep. Here's the days quick story. I got on my expediter's case about not having some of the permits we need to keep working yet. It turns out that the asbestos report I got about a year ago had expired. To top it off the guy who had done the report is no longer accredited so I had to get someone else. They're supposed to come by at 2pm today, but at about 11:50 I get a voicemail that they're going to be there at noon instead. Since neither I nor the GC could be there at noon I let him know to tell the crew who he was and that I had sent him. Instead he walks in without saying anything to anyone and my crew throw him out! He makes no attempt to introduce himself and just blows out.

Something like this is happening literally every day at this point. At least things are moving...

PS I updated the photo blog: Strange Weather Construction Photos!

Looking good. Glad to see you're tapping the ultra-fashionable Kentucky data center power conditioner market... I'm from Kentucky. I didn't even know they had data there, much less centers for it.

Zing?

Ha, anyway it was a steal. I got the thing for $450. The new UPS systems I priced out to replace it (most companies aren't even making transformer based power conditioners for data anymore since UPS have gotten cheap enough to be viable) were all upwards of $25k. Hopefully it'll work. They've got a 15 year life span and it's like 18 years old. But it's all big caps and transformers, I imagine that it could still be repaired if necessary.

Thanks! We're finally making some serious headway. There's a new blog, but it's more about our previous lack of headway...

Anyway here's the link: Marc Alan Goodman’s Building Strange Weather Blog: Rain Rain Rain : SonicScoop – Creative, Technical & Business Connections For NYC’s Music & Sound Community

Now we're starting to build a studio and not just save a building.

Here're some pics of the control room floor. We ran 4" pvc piping underneath to run all the cabling through. The machine room will be in the front on the left, that's why so many pipes terminate there. The wooden box is the trough for underneath the console.

Looking good - nothing like the joy of a freshly poured slab... Nice work on the cable "conduit"!
