nightshift

3:30 a.m. MET +1h

I promissed my friend alex to post some pix... so here they are...

the bird is breeding 5 tiny eggs as I type
got wood (too much)
got my Insulation (homatherm)....this is 10% of what I have in storage so if anyone in middle Europe needs it shoot me a pm
made some joints
and started framing

All the walls at soil level are sealed with mineral sealant and liquid glass....this plus a good ventilation will keep humidity at normal levels.

Tomorrow I continue and post results....

kind regards

chris

there you go mate!!!

tough job to build around the steel beams and doing it alone...I can tell!!!
ceiling is angled BTW

I will use plaster board for the ceiling and a slatwall for the side walls, if the STC with door and windows is to my liking. If not I will use plaster board as well. Floor will be laminate floor. Backwall will have a QRD.
Room will have massive bass trapping in the back.

Homatherm is great stuff...no itching at all...you can ripp off small junks and stuff them into tiny holes. It changes the sound of the room dramatically...After I brought in my 12 packs in the live room the RT60 has been reduced drastically in the low end.(added a picture of it in a previous post)

have a nice weekend folks.

Your wish is my command.

Today I worked on the back area of the control room. Also finished the soffit for my window . The corners will fit ca. 2,5 cubic meters of bass trapping.

question: can I put the homatherm leftovers like loose in there or should I stack them and make chunks?

good news: the birds are hatched

and I know what kind of bird it is

THIS ENTIRE THREAD IS LITERALLY MIND BLOWING.

I'm impressed by the brickwork for some one with no experience. I picked up masony as a trade and have always done it as hobby(I know it's a bit strange) and it looks like you grasped it well.. The framing was done well on the windows and doors.. that's intermediate stuff right there, sir!!

ceiling done!!!

what a PITA to do it alone (Nr 1 on my list so far)

note: the whole ceiling is filled with insulation (I am so happy for the cellulose , it wasn´t easy due to the beams but no ITCHING at all)

Will you close the window or the door in the photo, looking at the construction in front of them i guess youre gonna make some huge basstraps for the back of the room
all the best, keep it up
I use Homatherm (same as FlexCL but without reinforcement) the back of the piece has a fabric cover (black) ...it´s cellulose...no itching and it smells nice.

Window will be covered with an inner window and some kind of soundlock around it (above the Bass trap). The idea is to have access to the electrics and to have a little machine chamber for my computer)

underneath the window is a bass trap.

The door will be closed with bricks and the area between door and back wall is going to be a trap as well. So does the left sidewall where the iso booth window is.

New entrance will be in the live room.

UPDATE:

renovated the walls and the window frame in the booth...

layout will be: one brick wall facing an absorptive wall covered in fabric...
Outerwall with insulation drywall and inner window
ceiling absorptive with fabric
+ one corner bass trap (maybe two)
floor will be gravel with a movable platform (need to be tested)

framing has already started ...

rock on!!!

minor update

wont be ready before august I guess...

had to seal the wall from humidity ...with bitumen sheeting
here are the first reflective elements I installed with my 3 year old daughter;-)
And a test painting (I like the color)

The void width is exactly the diameter of the slat...The idea is to stick small pieces of different lengths in the gabs to have a diffusive area where it´s needed. So I can fine tune the room by moving those elements back and forth.

let me know how you like the color of the painted wood...my daughter picked the color

kind regards

I really like the color! but how smooth was the surface of the wood? it looks like you could get a nicer result with sanded/planed slats.
Keep it up man!
