This thread makes me horny and I stand in humble realization to the levels of gearslutism I have yet to achieve.

At first, I'm thinking, "Oh my God, some people have all the nerve, leaving half-empty cups on the damn console before it's even been installed?!" Then, I realized, that can't be true, so I thought, maybe those cups are being used for spare connectors, screws, etc?
Second, I have read that full-sized SSL consoles generate a lot of heat, and although this has basically been addressed, did you have to put in a very extensive AC system, or was it just the typical system you would install for a room that size? I figure all that outboard has gotta be putting out some serious heat too...
Do you ever turn all that stuff off? Or just leave it on (that's what I think you would probably do in that kind of situation...)
Whoa, that's one killer setup. I read through the entire thread with my jaw kind of hanging open. Can't wait to see the newly racked up stuff...!
Cheers,
-Tom.

P.S. I think what tipped me off about the cups was that in the "finished pictures" section, there were a whole bunch of them stacked near the floor. I said to myself, "either those are there for a reason, or they're going to have a hell of a keg party now that they finished installing that console!" (Maybe both?)

P.P.S - what is that thing in the center section that looks like a giant ball point pen (right in front of the screen?) Is that some kind of touch-screen stylus?
Tom,
Thanks. Yes all of the gear and the K puts out a lot of heat! There is a 3 ton unit dedicated to the Control Room. The Bathroom and Lounge share a 2 Ton Unit. ant there is another 3 ton unit form the hallway of gear.
Thanks,
Richard

P.S. The cups have screw! NO DRINKS!!! Yes the stylus goes to a Wacom Tablet that controls the K's Computer.

And all this is for mixing what? Only personal use?

Because I can't find any credits of Richard Dimmette on Allmusic.com or Artistdirect.com

I'm just curious.

Nice collection BTW. Congrats.

I'd be shocked if he didn't rent the space out to some engineers.

That´s what SIXTWOFOUR does, but with the real stuff (just like CLA or Michael Brauer)... it just takes more space, power, and some more money... and it certainly sounds accordingly

I think he's more of a broker/collector than an engineer.

Send a message via ICQ to muziekschuur
What are the trouble you run into (overcome) that a more modest studio doesn't run into? This is a pretty special setup. And sometimes this means specific issues. Wich may o may not be interesting to share...
