Yes, Steve - That's all my writing, playing, production and engineering work. Some of the stuff was co-produced and engineered. Like Wired Planet & Luminous, done with buddies Jonathan Perl and Paul Kozel at the Sonic Arts Center in NYC.
You can stream the full songs at higher quality for Luminous and Wired Planet at

www.wiredplanetmusic.com

Oh yeah, and Hugh Padgham lent us a guiding hand with the Luminous material in London : ) That was AWESOME !!!!!

The Revlon spot was also done with Jonathan Perl. He's a wonderful musician, engineer and producer. And we work so well together - he's like a brother to me.

Kaleidoscope was done with another one of my favorite people and musicians in the world, Walter Gonzalez - master drummer/ percussionist form Uruguay. He's one of my other brothers : )

Thank you VERY much for listening, Steve, and for the wonderful compliments, professionally and personally. I really appreciate it.

I've done quite a bit of construction over the years, including building 2 studios, and a residential flipper in Rhinebeck, NY about 4 years ago. Since then,
I've been working on my new studio (nothing as elaborate as your space), collecting some custom guitar cabs made by a good friend, and working on my home, gardens and some landscaping with my amazing wife, Kerstin.

I've been lazy a bit about putting my new studio photos up at my site - but I'll get around to it soon : ) I've also been lazy about putting new material (as in the LAST FOUR YEARS worth of music I've been doing with LOTS of great artists up on my site - I NEED AN ASSISTANT!!

Your studio looks wonderful - you're doing an incredible job. Keep up the great work - you're an inspiration to everyone here

Let me know if you want me to fly out to CA and collaborate on a production with you - It's be fun!

Again, thanks for the compliments - yes it was great working with Hugh.

Great - it's a done deal - Let's see, California.....hmmm...I guess I won't be needing my gorilla suit, OR my clown suit, wehhhhhhllllllll, MAYBE my clown suit - but I can definitely leave my ALASKAN PIPELINE GUARD SUIT here, The weather is SOO great out there - I'm totally jealous.

Seriously, let me know when you're ready to get started - I'll be out in a heartbeat : ) I need a break - although the weather will be glorious out here in a about a month - we've had some beautiful days, perfect for long walks by the cows and new 30-stall horse farm down the road - lovely.

btw - I'm working on 3 songs for a Gospel (Seventh Day Eventist) record right now. The artist is Delroy Souden.

I'm doing my usual thing - writing, producing, playing, singing all the BVs, and so far, engineering. We may be looking for a mix engineer for the record - which is approximately 13 songs, of which I've done 3 of them. The other producer on board is mega talented. I'll have more details. But just thought I'd let you know.

Delroy is here:

http://www.ensoundentertainment.com/delroys/

Delroy's company "enosund entertainment" site is:

http://www.ensoundentertainment.com/...?Announceid=11

His radio station:

http://ensoundentertainment.com/radio.htm

Ensound is hosting a Gospel Music Awards show in NJ this August.

My wife does the photo and graphics stuff for a lot of our artists, and has done the photos for Delroy, as well : )

The last album I worked on with Delroy is here:

http://www.ensoundentertainment.com/...scography.html

I did 2 tracks for him: "My Saving Grace" and "Ever Since You Came Into My Life"

Delroy is a sweetheart to work with , and a super talented singer. I've also worked with some other Gospel groups over the years, including 2 choirs - a lot of that work was really meticulous, and STILL needs to be completed. But some GREAT sessions, and wonderfully talented people, including one of my favorite choir director/ arranger/ piano players, Loris Laborde. Delroy's stuff is probably the only relevant Gospel stuff that I've done that's pretty much good to go (and is hopefully getting better everytime we work together : ), but I love doing the work, and working with great people.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Man, we were up hiking through Glacier from Babb, into Canada a few years ago - it is GORGEOUS up there. Then a nice little trip up to Banff - man, BEAUTIFUL.

Actually, here's a bit more of the tracks - those initial clips are too short.

"Ever Since You Came Into My Life" and

"My Saving Grace"

are the ones I did - this was about maybe 3 or 4 years ago - IIRC??

Thanks, man - yes, that's work I'm very proud of - thank you.
I co-wrote the songs with a good friend and collaborator of quite a few projects - Universal artist (singer/ songwriter) Lee Nestor:

http://www.leenestor.com/

I produced/recorded that stuff with a 4033, a mackie 24-8 using the pres on that board, and a PC - probably P3 800 mhz - or whatever was current in 2000 and Sonar version 1, a 2080 and old k2000 sampler : ) Oh, and A LOT OF HARD WORK AND SOME KILLIN' MUSICIANS.

I still like the way that Luminous stuff sounds - Hugh was blown away when he heard it the first time - he called us from his car - he was at our mews house in London LITERALLY the next day. He looked at me like I was from outer space when I told him how I recorded the record.

Again, thanks. I wrote that song in London walking down Oxford street - it seemed so sweet and predictable/ simple. I added the lyrics later in NY when Delroy came to me for the 2 songs.

I didn't have anything to do with the other stuff. Delroy was happy with it at the time, but I know he's REALLY happy with his current producer.

That would be wonderful!!! Let's see what happens, because Delroy's on a schedule - he's already advertising the CD on his site - but I think it'd be GREAT if it could work out. What are your mix rates going to be?? Didn't you post a thread about this a little bit ago?

Well i am working every day for as many hours as i can .............10 --12 hrs and I'm dead tired and all i can do is sit here and stare at GS.....

If I cant get it done before Delroys ready we will have to shoot for the next project.

I figure at least 2 more weeks on the Live room and then the wireing........

I cant tell how long that will take until i start into it.

It shouldn't take to long , everything goes to Punch downs and then to the Gear.. and the desk is already wired with Edacs.

Anyway...... After listening to your songs i would really like to work on some projects with you

I TOTALLY hear you - I know that construction, planning, super revved-up journey - I've been there many times - there's almost NO tired like THAT tired. There's actually something very plaeasing about being THAT tired. I kind of miss that feeling, and I've been jonsing to get another building/ renovation project underway.

I wanted a little low/ mid absorption and high frequency reflection, Thats one reason for the 703.

I have ALL the Mic lines 40 of them ran , the headphones ran to 8 different spots in the Live room and the Drum room , I ran 6 separate lines for separate headphone mixes ( mostly will use just 2 ) And plenty of spare pairs and MIDI in and out in 2 spots in the live room,

I have a separate pass through from the control room to the live room (totally sound proof ask me if you want to know how) for future wiring .. you never can have enough ...........

Then i have a small trough 2" in the bottom of this wall for whatever wires i may need to add later.
Trim with screws can easily be removed.

I t was not planed this way ,,,,, it just worked out

this is a shot of one of the headphone lines and a MIDI line
with the accidental future wire way below

Hi Steve,

Great progress!

One thing I was wondering, aren;t you creating triple leafs with the added timber "low-mids absorbing" wall and thus sacrifying some isolation?

Might be negligable, but I was just wondering... (planning a big build myself in the next 2-3 years, so I am really enjoying and learning from your endeavor!)

Greetings,
Dirk

Naha..... the cedar breathes, it lets sound pass through it . and some gets absorbed in the 703 .

and if anything the 703 will help deaden the drywall increasing deadness in that layer.

remember this left wall is a double wall, 2 layers 5/8 drywall on each side with a 12" air gap filled with insulation

The other cedar walls have a larger air gap in between each piece of wood and no 703 . with about an inch of air space then the drywall.

It works really well and kinda diffuses the mids and reflects the highs.

Bass trapping in the live room is done with the HVAC soffitt I will post some pics if i didn't already. And more bass trapping is in the right wall. It is the thinest wall in the room with 8" air space filled with insulation. then an 8" concrete wall.

NeilTdeal is building some diffusers for the Live room

I am trying to keep it as live as i can , Right now it sounds great !

There will be ceiling clouds to take care of the early reflections on top.

So as long as the treatment breathes you shouldn't have to worry about a 3rd leaf effect.

Thanks for the input, when you go to build ,, plan on 2x the $$$ and the time you think you will need.

This has been a hard and long job but i have had fun and really do enjoy the work.
If i could, i wouldn't change a thing.

And thanks to ALL the GS members, friends ,and family who are watching this thread and this studio come to life.

OK, get it.

Are you building some calculated Helmholz traps with the other Cedar wall or is it more of a gut-feeling-experience kinda thing? I.e. have you done some reverbtime calculations, based on how much Sabins of absorption you are putting in?

Anyway, keep up the good workt!

Greetings,
Dirk

P.S. My building will be considerably smaller and the calculations I have done of what it will cost me in the end, I have multiplied by 2 and that is my budget . It also won't be the first studio I built

I really enjoy reading about your studio building, and it start looking real great now! One thing that's been in my mind for a while is that you mention HVAC from time to time... What does that mean? I'm not english speaking so it's probably something I didn't learn at school.

Looking forward to more picture later on! Keep on hammering!
