Hi, I'm working with what I have: Front room of my house 8' wide x 13.5' long and 8' tall. The computer will be mounted on the wall in an adjacent room with a pass through for the cables. Two new electrical plugs were installed with isolated grounds on their own 20 amp breakers so the studio power is separate from the house power. previous to these photos the interior walls were ripped out and insulated with roxul safe and sound. The studio space is not fully completed...4 more wall bass traps will be added...one on the front wall, one on a 45 degree angle above the mix position and two on the bare side walls. I hope this gives some inspiration to others working with less than ideal spaces and limited budgets. Cheers, Aaron |

Thread Starter | Few more pictures
Here are a few more pictures! All the traps are made with roxul safe and sound. The ceiling clouds have 2" bats of fiberglass beneath the aluminum The room so far has: 2 front corner traps at 5.5" deep x 15" wide. 2 first reflection floor to ceiling traps at 5.5" deep and 23" wide Back wall: 2 hinged corner panels 3" deep by 15" wide 2 floor to ceiling 3" deep 23" wide I will probably build 4 more hanging panels. My next move is to try to position things well...the monitors will have to be elevated and nudged around etc Aaron |

Nice work Aaron !! What are the clouds that you have employed? they appear to be RPG or other MFG'd product. Have done any listening/measurements based on them? I am using the hinge ideal to get my some coupled room tamed on the low end. Cheers. T |

Thanks Tonio, I received the clouds in trade for some other gear. The are punched aluminum. They came with factory installed 2" plastic wrapped fiberglass bats that slide in on top of the aluminum. I may replace these with rockwool one day. I have not done any measurements yet...partially since I will have to learn how to do this. I read some threads and will learn how...(just like everything else) in time. Even without measuring I figured It would be a safe bet adding bass traps to my corners and first reflections to start out. The sad but true part is that my previous mixes are now being revealed to be quite poor....ah the joys of learning to record. Post pics of your studio project if you can. Cheers, Aaron |
