Ok, so the place is in an industrial area and was used as a warehouse/storage space for the last fifteen years or so. We are letting the place "breathe" as the place has been literally shut for so long.

We are going to build a control room , tracking room, mastering suite and a space that can double up as a second recording space as well as a rehearsal spot when needed. On top of that there will be a tiny pre-production/editing space and an office. The empty space is about two hundred square metres plus another twentyfive or so for the office.

We spoke to some very higly regarded (and very nice) professionals but unfortunately as this project has no external financing it just wouldn't fit into the budget. To make things worse we wanted the place for its central location, parking space ans soon but the owner would only consider letting as opposed to selling therefore we opted for a more realistic (financially I mean) approach for the time being.

Got it. Fully understand.

Are you goin' with some kind of floating floor? Wood or metal studs? Any technical details? Any sketchup or drawing?

Wooden joists on u-boats. We would have gone with floating concrete but it would have worked out more expensive and since we are letting the place ............

Yep! Plenty of places as we are about 3/4 of a mile from the old town.
The beach is just over a mile away.

Thanks again.

Polyrex roll, can be used under bricks/walls. In iour case it will go between the concrete outer "ring" of each room and the first row of bricks.

Spring seems to be coming later than usual and to keep us warm we ordered juts a tiny bit of insulating material ......... thepicture shows just a fraction of the whole lot .......

Walls start to go up! Next will be ceilings.
Also shown the temporary directional high prestige office (soon to become the toilet/restroom)

Ok, ceilings are up. Waiting for the concrete to dry.

ATM we are having fun filling gaps between the perimetral bricks and removing some of the cocrete left over the floor from the ceiling build ........

The window between ctrl room and one of the live rooms will get its frame fitted shortly.

Filling the gaps ........... mastering room shell.
And lots of concrete left over to clean up. It goes without saying that in the mastering room pic picture is a linear phase broom.......
