Well, the Control room walls are delayed until the A/C people come, the vocal booth is all done, and they started on the live room. This was this moring so it should be nearing completion tonight. The A/C people managed to F$%k-up again by fabricating more parts that don´t fit, and not showing up to install them... so starting tomorrow they will recieve a nice little call and letter from my lawyer. I have started to contact other companies to finish the work seeing as this company is already 4 weeks behind.

I con´t help putting this image up to show just part of the complete stupidity of the A/C people. This Piece was meant to be
1. attatched to the drywall ceilling
2. attatch to the Cement ceilling 12 cm up from the drywall.
3. travel through the 40 cm of ceilling to the attic
4. turn 90 D and attatch to the distribution unit
.
The picture is the part they made for one of the studios, which has incredibly detailed directions on the layout of the parts in the engineers plans.
only missing about 40 cm.... small oversite according to them.
another week is lost

In other news the A/C people have managed to F$%k me once again. This time they drilled the holes in the ceiling of the live room in the wrong place. Tomorrow I will re-drill 3 30cm holes and fill in the old ones. The measurment of the holes was made without the knowledge "THAT ACOUSTIC WALLS WOULD BE BUILT'.... or atleast that is their excuse. Pure stupidity. They recieved the full acoustic and a/c design and so they have no excuses other than major lack of attention to detail. The repair should take another day or two........ AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

On the good news front, all the studio walls are almost complete and after this coming week the wood floors will go in. The electrician is ready to install lights, the doors are done, the concrete floors are done, the correct government documents are all in order, and all my clients are delayed two months because of their own problems.
Here is a quick photo of the vocal booth.

Man thats to bad about the Hvac guys..........

One thing ive learned about studio construction is if any thing can go wrong it will.

But in the end it always gets fixed better than it was. (most of the time)

today i got to watch 7 of my custom built Doors fall over like dominos when the Guys unscrewing the pallet got in a hurry ...

smashed 4 of them to bits

Bummer

oh well at least no one was under them......

Yous studio is looking great ! ''keep up the good work

Well, it looks like the a/c people will bein again to fix everything this week.... I hope. On the other side of things the live room walls were finished this weekend. This walls took extra time in this room for many reasons. The 45 degree angles in the corners of the walls and ceiling are suspended/isolated in a manner that allows them to vibrate to soak up low end frequences without affecting the adjoining walls. This little detail took hours, but dramatically changed the acoustic of the room.

Also finished the control room ceiling, just the bass traps and one extra layer of drywall left. We are still passing audio cable and electrical in the floating floors so the control room walls will be finished on thursday if luck is on my side.

Dry wall in the control room, live room, and vocal booth is done. I will get the walls ready for wall paper this week, and apply it next week and hopefully install the wood floors too.

Well after the a/c company adjusted my poop shoot from size 1 to a nifty size 7 they are finally out. They will only return to place the sensors and run the system for a day. Their contract states that their service will take max 30 to 40 days. I don´t even want to count now but I believed they have breached the 70 day mark. They have already called both me and one of my partners to recieve the last payment. Now it is my turn to delay things....
This week the lights are going in in the studios, the wall paper is being applied and the wood floors should be installed next week after the usual delays. The rest of the building is coming together quickly... bathrooms kitchen and such. Hopefully tomorrow I will get some good photos....

Wall paper on, wood floors being installed, lights are all pluged in, for the first time for a while now things are on schedule. They have also started painting the building and the metal grid for the front should be installed in the next two weeks. All of the tiles are done for the bathrooms and the kitchen and the concrete people are coming to put on the final treatment this coming week. The control room windows are also on their way and all of the diffusors are almost ready. Next week or so I should be able to install the the racks and desk and start running cables... I hope!

Wood floors are nearing completion and a sample of a diffusor I may use on what arrived. I am thinking of making almost an entire wall like this instead of putting the large rock wall that I had originally. The srock I was wanting will be way to heavy for the current structure so I had to change the plan quickly. We are going to put more peices of wood so it seems less empty.

Well, the grid on the front of the studio is done and most of the painting is done. Now we just have lights, electric, and audio cabling to go.

Putting the the control room windows in. Each window consists of two panels of vacuumed dual layered glass. I also finally recieved and installed the energy pole, which means I may finally get real electricity and the the ghetto connections I am using at the moment.

All the best.

Just my opinion but when I'm tracking a vocalist, I like to see him/her through the glass, not have my back towards them, that's bad Fung Shui.

A lot of artists don't feel comfortable with some engineer/producer geek staring at them. Comfort makes better records.

I actually built that room with the idea of less visability. I have found that people feel better when they don´t have a room of people starring at them. The room gives people a small space with some privacy. If I want to look at the singer or musician while they are recording I can just put them inthe other room..... maybe it is good Fung Shui.

Finshed the first acoustic pannels that will go on the wall and ceiling. The larger go on the ceiling, and the smaller go on the wall and have a frame surrounding it with colored material and fiber glass behind.

Well, some acoustic panels arrived today and I was extremely excited to start getting them up. I grabbed the first one and put it on the wall..... but something didn´t feel right... why is the panel not flush against the wall????????????????????????????????
????????
Thats because the electrician´s employees decided to wing it and left the design at home and put all of the outlets 10cm too high. The result of this incredible stupidity is that I have to cut a few cm off all of the acoustic panels in EVERY STUDIO!!!!! That is at least 45 panels to be cut. Just f$%¨$g great
When will this ever end.
