Super Cave @ South Philly - Construction & Final pictures

Hi everyone,

This is a studio I designed early 2009. Only did the interior acoustics with custom bass trap and custom diffuser. Everything is made in house by the owner and his friends. Even the basement was dug up manually before they started everything.

Anyone in south Philly and interested in visiting, please feel free to contact: novipindang at yahoo dot com (attention: Novi).

This pictures are taken to see the basement before construction (sometimes around 2008).

Since the position of the sweetspot is a little hard to find ... I checked the frequency response at 6 different locations (3 sweeps with left and 3 with right spkr), about 2-3in in radius around the sweetspot position (measured with EASERA and M30BX). I used Reveal6 a while ago and I have to admit if the speaker really loves this room ... the sound reproduction is just amazing here! Very flat response and the diffuser does the job well to give a feeling surrounded by sound.

congrats, looks like a nice and creative space

the speakers located right on a corner is like a not recommendable spot for them to be... but what do I know... how does it sound??

best of luck, let it rock!!!

Yeap ... we tried different position, sleeping, standing, tweeter on the bottom on that spot (subjective evaluation). This is the only position that can give good response and widest image, although the hard part is sitting in the "middle". The center sweetspot is very narrow ... that's the down-side.

I have never heard Tannoy Reveal6 as good as it can be in this room (I used this speaker for 2 years too)! It is really tricky to design a control room and live room at one location to minimize the construction, woods, etc! everyone is so far happy with the room sound.

Hi guys, check this picture .. the sound arrival from L and R speaker at 0-30ms (I moved the direct sound arrival to 0ms), overlaid.

There are 2 annoying reflections at 3-4ms which are caused by the ceiling and table. Considering the first strong reflections are more than 15dB down than the direct sound, I don't bother putting more absorbers/diffusers to tame that down ...
