Thanx man, I still am concerned about that and as the studio is not finished yet, I haven't done anything there yet so far, In the theory it has to work, I keep my fingers crossed

we have a window, and it has glasses on it yaaaaaaaaaaay

it is not completely done yet, but almost there, we put the glases with different calibers or thickness, I don't know the right word, excuse moi

the glasses will never touch the wood frame, they rest on a black silicon base and I pray to all the studio gods for that window to work as it should

and of course the silica gel, or salt or those little tiny spheres, maaaaan I guess I have little balls

here is the window process

the final pieces of the frame will be done tomorrow

and yes, still no doors, not even for the toilet room, can you imagine that??? dfegad

the vibe lights show

the tivoli lights were placed and connected in all the places we did the preps for, the electric guys messed up a little bit with the cables, there were so many lines, but it was all sorted out and it was all worth it, it gives the exact vibe I was looking for in alternative lights for the sessions

here is the story

ok, time to get serious again

today I started plugging everything, what a terrible mess, I'm using belden and gotham cables, they are pretty much the best cables you can find around here where I live, eveything with neutrik connectors, I must confess that there are a couple of hosa snakes around there

As you all know, the cost of the whole thing multiplied itself and I wasn't able to buy the TT patchbays I wanted to, therefore many of those cables are not the final wires yet, I hope I can buy them soon,

here is some of the wiring process, the rack is not wired yet, not completely I mean

thank u Oz and greatgreatriver

Yesterday I finished plugging the whole thing and making some tests, I am really worried cause I have a not so nice HUM noise that I haven't got before in my prior little mix room, not that bad anyway

It is kinda weird cuase the electrics were made by the same guy in both my old mixroom and my new studio, and he does that for a living, I mean, he had wired so many studios before, he's good at it, star grounding and all.

and it's the same gear I had before so, I am worried... I did change the placing of the patchbay from the furniture desk to the rack... I don't know,

I'll try to place both powers, the one for the toft and the one for the speakers somewhere else, maybe under de desk, and away from the rack and patchbay... what do u think? any suggestions?

thanx

Try moving the computer/flat screen to another power outlet (don't know if that's the right word). That's what I have to do in my basement studio. I don't have the puter and the studio stuff connected to the same outlet.

Sorry for the english...

doors?? geeee I knew I was missing something

the doors are being made, today we did some tests on the door frames and check if they fit ok in it's door hole, I hope they will be done soon, the live room door will be a sort of glass door, and the main door will be solid, they both will have mdf, sand, neoprene, all in different layers within the door... well, that's the plan anyway

the construction work wasn't made as good as it should have, so it has been very tricky to build the window and make it fit, and it is happening again with the doors... the window is done now, it looks gorgeous, I forgot the camera in the studio, so in a few hours I'll post window pics

thanx for asking mate

hi there mates

here is an update on the window which is done now and looking good, as well as some pics from different angles, one of my guardians is right there saying hi to you all

the doors are in process, meanwhile I am editing drums for the project I am producing right now, and I can't wait to get the band in here to record the rest of it

and, right now is being set a second polycarbonate roof on top of the original "dome" roof cause heavy rain is still causing some leaking, so I decided to insert this polycarbonate roof on the wall where the leaking is happening and on top of the original roof

I don't recall if I mentioned this before when the built begun, but I wasn't allowed to build a regular concrete roof in the first place, that was the deal for me to put my studio in here, it means, not being to invasive to the house construction wise, so I hope this second roof will work just fine

thanx for watching, and for all your comments and advices

oh, I forgot, the diffuser for the control room is being built as well, the algorithm was made by Ruben Vargas the guy who did all the acoustic treatment design, and Hugo is building it just like all of the treatment I've been showing in the thread,

I'll try to post a pic with all the crew together... not the construction workers, I'm so mad at them for the poor job they did all the way through their part of the process, uneven walls, bad finishes and mediocre execution

thanx Oz, it's all yours mate

hey, we even have pretty much the same gear

by the way, I've been having some issues with some of the gear you have there also, first of all, the ATB has some bad potentiometers and some frustrating issues, I'm in contact with PMI and trying to sort it out, is your atb ok?

the other thing is, the Motu HD192's are producing some HUM noise when they are on, have u experience this at your studio? I've notice that you actually have them near the ATB power supply, so how about any noise?

thanx

My toft has a few minor quirks but nothing seriously wrong. Sometimes channel 32 doesn't like being in the master right buss, but I use the last 8 channels for tracking only so doesn't bother me. I have some noise if I crank the monitor pot all the way, but that's just the inherent noise of the desk I think.

My HD192s are the LOUDEST things in my studio! I couldn't have them where you have them because the fans whine so loudly. My studio is silent without them on.

Is it fan noise you hear with your hd192 or actual electrical hum? If it'd hum, then something is definately not right.

Hope that helps,

Oz

it is definitely not the fans noise, which indeed are quite loud, no, what I have is an electrical hum noise, and it is noticeable cranking the CR knob all the way up, being in a regular position is barely noticeable but yet not desirable

I need to figure this out

thanx Oz

Hi Tonio.

I like the vibe of your studio!!!
How did you made that curved celling pannels?
Which wood did you use, and how did you bring it into shape without cracking it?
I will fly to mexico at monday to visit a client.
too bad that i have no time to have a stop in mexico city. I have just 3 hours on the airport to chance my airplane to guadalajara.

But i`m shure your room sounds great.

What did you for absorption on the backwall of the control room?

i can`t see any treatment on the photos...

cheers

thanx mate, it'd be a pleasure to have u visiting the studio, anytime man, more than welcome

the back wall of the CR has a tuned bass trap/absorber in the left corner, and it will have a 1.55 x 1.20m wall diffuser, and on the top of that, within the ceiling in that "lower ceiling area" is a none tuned bass trap/absorber all over that part of the ceiling, and below the diffuser will be placed another bass trap/absorber, so, I don't think or hope it won't need anymore absorption, right now without the diffuser sounds pretty good already, I can't wait to put the diffuser and hear the difference

Live Room clouds, that is a great question that I'll try to answer, we used MDF (I hope it means the same for you than for me), a thin layer so ti can be bent, about .6mm thick, Hugo broke a few in the process, but it can be bent, and then, he used a thiner layer of some Chilean (I mean Chile the country) wood, so thin but with a nice wood pattern to cover the mdf which has no look at all, I think I've posted pics when we placed the clouds and you can see them from the inside

please take a look a few posts earlier... I hope it helps

the studio is not finished yet so I haven done any recordings so far, I'm craping my pants hoping everything will be great

thanx and enjoy your trip to Guadalajara, girls are amazing over there

have a "torta ahogada" but be very aware of the hot sauce, ask for a non spicy/hot one... yummy yummy
