today the guys were finishing all the CR panel frames, and started working on the window frame, or the base to put the actual frame on it is... something like that

we are one step closer yaaaaaaaay

the doors aren't done yet, the clouds aren't done yet, and some bass traps in the CR aren't done yet, the diffuser is not done yet, dammit there are quite a few steps ahead

plus, I need to dismantle my current mix room, gear, furniture console, rack ,etc and take it to the new studio and configure everything there... a lot of fun right? right

all of the panels are finally done but not placed yet, I'll take pics of that tomorrow, but, here is tiny update on the window frame, and the bass traps on the back wall in the Control Room

hopefully next week I'll be moving my gear from my current apartment mix room to the new studio and start all of the configuration and gear setting and all of that

hip hip, hurraaaaay..... hip hip, hurraaaaaaaay

this is so cool

yesterday was all about the "back to life" room diffuser in the back wall, it is a very light diffusion cause it is a small room, and it has absorbers everywhere in the room, this diffuser will give back a little live feel and brightness to the room, along with the clouds that will be placed on it's ceiling

anyway, this diffuser type wall has 39 wood strips of 3 different sizes placed in a simple algorithm, it gives a lovely look to the room as well and, don't you love the smell of wood??

I'm so tired... today I dismantle or disconnected all of my gear in my current mix room and took everything I could to the new studio and, crap, what a mess, but I'm happy cause this gets me a little closer

at the studio not much has happened, finally the side panels are being set, the upper light boxes/panels or however they are called are done and ready to be set and all of this will be done tomorrow

meanwhile here are some pics of how we are decoupling the panels from the floor and walls using a neoprene type material, and some pics of the outboard gear I have so far as I was filling the rack.

later I'll show you the cables mess, it's crazy

one step closer

the panels are finally done and set, now it's starting to look cooler in the control room

tomorrow lights magic will start, and I'll move the rest of my gear from the old mix room to the new studio... big heavy furniture desk, toft atb32, speakers

I'm not sure yet when will all be set and wired cause the clouds at both rooms are not ready yet, and we still need to build the doors and studio window

I'm so in love with my studio...

Looks really amazing!
The lighting adds so much soul to it (and not just the light from the lava lamp, although it's hard to beat that feel).

I'm doing a mockup for a future studio and this is a great inpiration.
May I ask you if you can post just a simple drawing with the lenghts of each wall?
Since I don't really know how this compares in size to my future room and I just want to see if I can fit a live room in there.

But only if you have time, you seem to have enough to do already.

Good luck with the room, can't wait to see more of it!

thanks man, and of course, anything you need it's yours, do you want to know the measures for the control room? or the mini live room? both?? in meters?

anyway, here they are the measurements for both rooms from wall to wall, this means, without the acoustic treatment

control room: 3.70 x 4.9 meters 2.55 meters height

live room: 3.60 x 2.70 meters 2.50 meters height (average cause the ceiling is angled)

it is in deed a tiny space but I think it will be very comfortable to work on, and the recording room will be enough to record a drumkit nicely

I lose a lot of space with the acoustic treatment but it's all worth it...

I mean, it was a bedroom before, and the live room was a part of a small patio... so, I think we are pulling a little miracle here

cheers and hugs from Mexico City!!

P.S.
Here is the rather simple drawing I did in the first place, before the built and all

Perfect!

Thanks alot.

Looks right now as if I won't have enough space for a live room suitable for drums.
But if I get my control room as cosy as your, it'll be all good.

the clouds are done, it looks great

here is the clouds history

A frame structure was attached to the control room ceiling and the cloud fit into that frame, then the lights and there you go...

for the live room ceilings, each of three were attached to the ceiling frame, we tried to use rubbers to do this but it didn't work, so we came up with a not very fancy solution but yet efective, we use this little plastic belts so we can get the clouds tighter to the fabric in the ceiling, and worked like a charm

here are the pics

The pic for the Live Room done with the clouds is not up yet, I'll shot it today

thanx for watching

thank U thank U...

here are the pics for the Live Room pretty much done, there are still left to do the finishes or cosmetic stuff if we can call it that way, this means, strips of wood here and there to hide the staples on the fabrics and all of that sort of things everywhere in the studio, both rooms

today I put the carpet I intent to use in the live room, it looks very nice, my beautiful wife took those pics, she has so much more of a photographer sense than me

Also we placed the meter bridge unit for the ATB, man it looks so prrrrrrettty

the frame for the studio window is now in process

it's all coming together now... what a relief
