SplitSecondSound Amsterdam Studio Build

Hi All,
I'd like to share a photolog with you. It shows pictures of the building of our new studio in Amsterdam. The design is by Thomas Jouanjean of NORTHWARD Acoustics. The same guy that designed the mastering studio of Darius van Helfteren from Amsterdam Mastering.

I'm not sure if it's allowed to link to other sites, but you can find the photolog on the site:
Split Second Sound - Building of new studio in Amsterdam

I'm looking forward to your reactions.
Kind Regards,
Bouke Visser

I gotta tell you, the photo viewer you have linked is way too painful/slow to use. What about posting some key-stage photos here?

For all the handy ones: Bouke and his team are actually building the whole facility themselves - quite a challenge, especially when you see the amount of work and materials that go into a professional studio!

And so far they are doing very good!

CR A is a FTB room, centered around an AMEK Media 51 console and icing on the cake: ATC 200 ASL mains.

CR B is also FTB, and shares the Live Room with CR A.

An edit room is on the top floor, adjacent to the lounge and offices.

Shell of the live room is fully floated with a natural frequency just under 13Hz and effective decoupling from 25Hz.

Keep the good work!

Looking good!

Absolutely loved the Darius Amsterdam Mastering thread...

So Northward is just supplying the designs?
Or the materials too?

Good luck with the build!

Northward supplied us the designs and also guides us during the build. They don't supply us the materials. Off course then can and will if needed.
It really pays to contact several big wholesales of building materials to get discounts. The last few months I got better and better in buying materials and getting good deals. It really pays!

Hi there,

Seeing a building proces of a studio like that, I think the economical crisis hasn't arrived to the music industry here in Holland yet.
Again a nice and well build facillity.

Greetz,

Paul

How long until the studio is finished? I have a session coming up in Amsterdam in a few months time...

How big will the live room be?

I was there last week when we fitted together the ATC 200 ASL in the wall. CR A should be finished pretty soon.

Which begs the question, where are you ordering your Homatherm from?

Cheers,

Alistair

ordering Homatherm

In Holland there's only one supplyer of homatherm. Thomas gave us a good price so that I could use "against them". Keep in mind that Homatherm is a bit an unusual building material in the common (non studio) building industry in Holland. So it's almost inpossible to get this real cheap.

I will post some pictures to show how far the buidling is. It simply is to busy to post on a regular base. I'm sorry for that.
Cheers,
Split Second Sound

With all that toiletpaper I can see you can vary the sound from 100% dry to 100% wet!
