Thanks Seven, at the 38% position, it sounds amazing. I played a few of my favourite mixes and the definition is quite good. Frequency wise, we won't know until we do the final tests but despite its size 13 x 15, with 10 feet ceilings, it sounds pretty darn good.

We laid a few tracks last night for an upcoming project and I was super happy with the sound proofing! The second door isn't in yet as well as the second layer of drywall on the outside of the control room and it was super quiet. We had a couple of amps just wailing outside and inside the room it was like they weren't even on. (Except through the monitors.)

It's been a while since we've put up an update. Work is still progressing. We've put in all the double doors and our ISO2 room is being painted.

Wow, another busy week but we got a chance to do a bit more in terms of trim, drywall and acoustical treatment. The treatment in our Isolation room is a bit different. We're making up larger 4'x4' broadband absorbers and placing them right in the centre of each wall. As most of the tracking will occur in the centre of the room, we felt this made the most sense.

Here is the panel after we applied the fabric.

Here is the back of the panel. We made this with 3/4 inch MDF and it weights a ton, especially compared to our smaller thinner ones we made earlier.

Here is the front of the finished panel. Looks pro, no?

Here is one side of ISO1 with the new absorbers installed. It is starting to look like something.

Here is the same room with a different view. The walls on that side are a cool blue. We still need to put the trim on the top of the wall but we will put the traps in first. Our new drumset is in as well and the boxes are in this shot. Can't wait to get the room done so we can get the drums set-up.

Console is in and set-up. We're going to be doing 100% of our mixing in the box but we want to have the flexibility of an analog console for routing. The best bang for the buck had to be the A&H series.

We're keeping the electronic drums in the control room. Here you can see the rest of the acoustical treatment we put into the control room.

Here you can see the temporary keyboard set-up as well as some of the art my daughters did to put in the studio. New racks will be going in and will act as the stand for the keyboard.

Next update, we should be painting the Isolation Room B as well as getting the rest of the trim and bass traps in Isolation Room A. Still to come for the control room are monitors and the hardwiring.

We're moving fast and furious now. We hope to be in shakedown mode for the month of August so we're on track. Isolation room B is painted and mostly trimmed out. Here is the back wall of ISO B with acoustical treatment. That whole wall is pegboard with insulation behind it. This room is 15 x 20 and can easily fit a whole band.

Another view of the same room looking into the control room and ISO A.

Same room this time viewed from the control room.

Here is the view inside ISO A. The drums have arrived and have been put together but not set-up yet. That doesn't stop my 6 year old from banging out some beats though !

Here is the view outside of the studio. We're on 84 acres here in the Thousand Islands. With all of this rain the place is a giant rain forest.

More to come. Next time we will be firing up the soldering gun as well as continuing with trim. One more month of construction and then we can fire up the recording machine.

Wow, we're 99.99% done and we're already into pre-production and recording on our first project here. The closed circuit LCD 32 inch video monitors arrived yesterday and just need to be hard wired in. We couldn't wait and got them set-up.

If you remember we originally had a big window planned but opted for better sound isolation and went with a closed circuit video set-up between rooms. It looks just awesome and the beauty is we can record the entire session and then put it together in a video compilation later! Too cool.

New website is up as well. Here are a handful of pics. The rest are on the site.

Well, we're done with our Phase 1 build and the studio is officially open. The rooms are sounding great. We may be tweaking a few things but for now we're quite pleased with the results.

Closed circuit video has been installed and works quite well in lieu of windows between rooms. This is achieved with 32 inch LCD monitors and video cameras in each room. We're now just adding outboard and computer components every couple of weeks.

Here are a couple of final pictures for now of our ISOB room and the new mascot.
