Thread Starter | Free Standing Vocal Booth Construction Project
Hi all, I've always lurked on the slutz boards and have never posted. I've been recording for 20 years and last year invested in a great place. My business partner and I found an old basket ball court and floated it on a few layers of industrial carpeting. With some wall and ceiling treatment it sounds pretty good. ![]() ![]() Now that we've been there awhile, external noise has forced us into building a vocal booth. I've looked through the slutz site and have never really found good pics or instructions on how to do it. There are a few, but I thought we would add ours to the mix. Our first thought was to have someone build it for us. First quote was $5,000 (ouch). It seems high so we are going to do it ourselves. Our budget is $700 - $1000 ![]() Lets see if we can get there. I'll post pics in the coming weeks. If anyone has ideas feel free to share. Last edited by roland_of_g; 10th November 2008 at 09:23 PM.. Reason: added photo |

Have you figured out how to provide fresh air inside the vocal booth without too much wind noise?

Yes, we talked about it with an HVAC engineer. The concept is pretty simple. I'll draw something up and post it but the basic idea is this: You need an input (air in) and output (air out). Each air route should have 3 90 degree bends in it. I guess this cancels the sound. My plan is to build some type of box on the outside of the booth that would contain the vent hose and fan. For what it's worth, i have not done this yet. Any feedback from someone with more knowledge would be appreciated. | |
