If you are Brum based, call in for a cold one some time man!

That was the 6th one:

great sounding room + API = instant draw!

So yesterday I spent the day sanding down the plaster. Today it was time to start painting! First coat is a white matt emulsion especially for fresh plaster.

Here's the long wall (not quite finished the first coat):

And the short wall (with first coat done):

Here's a different angle:

And then as procrastination levels set in I thought I'd stand my reversible rpg panels roughly in place to see how it's gonna feel when it's finally done:

very interesting thread....
Most studios using mainly wood with rockwool but why do you use concrete? Just curious about it or it has some benefits...

Today it was time to paint the last wall and ceiling. After applying about a full role of bright blue masking tape to my beautiful maple control room window I got down to it:

I quickly decided that I wish I had gone with a more straightforward ceiling design! I found that if I stand on a 7 foot tall platform on my tip toes, with extendable roller at full extension, I can just reach the highest point of the ceiling... but I can't get into the corners... doh!

Here's my problem:

Spraygun !!!!

(though you'll probably still need a higher platform...)

Place looks great so far, looking forward to some more pics!!

By the way, I have your studio designer Max's old Amek Classic desk. If you see him, tell him it's grown 16 new channels - oh and also tell him thanks again for bringing it up to me!!

Thanks man/ I also initially thought the brick woulda been kinda cool but, to be frank, the brickwork just wasn't neat enough. It should also make the room feel bigger if it's the same colour as the rest of it.

Real nice Art Deco touch with the booth! It needs a neon sign that says "Vocals" or something.

The build is awesome as a whole too!

That is a very cool idea (though sadly I'd guess neon bulbs buzz though - anyone know?)

yeah, neon is a no no. LED's on the other hand are good

I don't know this particular product, but something like this (assuming it actually is LED's)

LED Neon

Just dont power them from the same socket you power your audio gear.

And you can always turn it off when there's chritical recording in process.

But there's no substitute for real neon.

The other alternative I guess is to use it as a pizza oven rather than an iso-booth as has been suggested elsewhere. What do you guys think:

So... back to regularly scheduled programming...

I had a cunning plan on how I could get to the ceiling bits that I can't reach:
1. get a very long ladder indeed
2. Rest it against the 'steps' on the ceiling:

And here's a shot with a bit more plaster on the booth:

Here's a few random shots for you to finish the weekend. The first is of the booth end of the room:

The other of a wall box:

And a close-up just for fun:

Next week will see the final bit of plastering done (on iso 1) and the decorators make their appearance. There'll be some offline stuff going on (bathroom and kitchen are being replaced) but nothing too exciting.
