You know, you're absolutely right. I have now put more acoustic treatment into the room since uploading the last photos- some pretty large corner bass traps etc. and I am left with one problem now... the desk is resonating at or below around 70hz. The stereo image is great, clarity is better than ever, but the desk is giving off some intrusive vibrations! Also the new floor that we put in is vibrating a little- do you think that spiked speaker stands would reduce this?? I am definitely going to look into getting this sorted asap!

Thanks inlinenl!

Rear wall broadband absorber

You can see that we added corner bass traps to the control room... the dimensions are 1.35m high and are 500 x 500 x 700 mm triangles. We used high density mineral wool cut into lots of triangles in a homemade frame. Low end is much clearer now!

Hi Adam,

I would drill a hole where you can stick a speaker stand through ....

just about 6 - 10 cm hole and get some standard speaker stand .. than it does not touch the desk ....
the standard should be able to be in two parts and adjustable in height .. well you know what I mean/point at.

once again .. quality build .. UK standard .. respect guys ..

I really like the vibe of those session pictures.
It's the kind of studio I love to record in.

I can certainly confirm that the place turned out well. My band has had two main sessions there, and will soon make it three (along with a few minor tweakfests). Interesting to see the work in progress photos - and now I've seen Andy with power tools, I resolve to be more respectful towards him in future.

Small update

Hi,

It's been a while but we recently had a chance to take some more photos of the studio in action:

We recently bought a Neve 1073 DPA and a custom 1960's valve mic pre which I have to box up before it gets rackmounted. Both sound absolutely great!
