Talking Fabric Audio - Studio Construction

After many months of planing, budgeting worrying and running around like headless chickens we have finally started construction on our new facility.

We will be doing quite a lot of the work ourselves.

So for a couple of months we shall be builder slutz

Here is the funky 3d plan by simeon delikaris manias symewn@gmail.com

And here is the actual space

We hope so too!!

On with the photos...

Here we are conducting the all important ambient noise measurements

fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_1812.jpg

We also checked for any possible magnetic/electrical interference (and its all good!)

fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_1817.jpg

And some of our extremly complex and expensive test equipment

We have now mapped everything out, so we can start cutting the floor tiles. This is so the wall structures dont start from the same height.

fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_1833.jpg fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_1840.jpg

Here is the 80cm wall gap designed to give a 75-80db reduction!

In order to create me must Destroy!!

We needed to get rid of the two pillars and cut the floor tiles. Difficult job but quite rewarding.

We also put in the pipe channels to carry the audio/video cabling from machine -> Controll -> live room. You can also see the main power lines going through too. We descided to split the AC phases and use one for the controll one for the live and one for lights+HVAC.

Thanks,

The build is in Athens Greece,

We are a team of Engineers/Sound designers who met and worked in London. After a couple of years we decided to start up a project in Greece.

As for gear I will be posting a full setup soon but the basic layout is a mixture of boutique pres/outboard, control surface all being recorded and edited on Nuendo.

We will also have a nice selection of tube amps and two drum kits

(pics to follow)

Sorry for not updating but we have been quite busy. We have been plastering and constructing the inside sound treatment.

Here is the plaster work started

And this is the structure of the inside sound treatment
fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_2087.jpg fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_2092.jpg fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_2142.jpg

We have also started passing the mic tie cables (2x 24 channel snakes)

fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_2140.jpg fabric-audio-studio-construction-img_2141.jpg

Also here is what the floating floor is going to stand on (very dence and thick rubber)
