Thanks for the good words Mixbuster. I believe that in big projects custom design works better

We got our sample for the absorbing panels. It is rockwool with fiberglass tissue on the front. Normally it comes in black but we made a special order in light beige. It looks quite good and the overall price is much cheaper than fitting cloth. I believe the installation of the panels will be pretty fast

How did you calculate the size and shape of your diffusers?

There are various patterns. This a brief summary you can have a look

QRD Diffuser Well Depth Calculator

According with Trevor J. Cox and Peter D'Antonio page 236 chapter 9.3 from the book ''Acoustic Absorbers and Diffusers'' (by the way very good book if you want to buy it) the theoretical approach differs from the reality. So i chose 10 cm well widhts instead of 5cm in order to go at low frequencies. The period was choosen to be 7 since i wanted to have more repeatability (4 diffusers total at each side) than going with a large period and just making maximum 2 diffusers each side.

If i can be excused from the authors i copy this phrase:

''For the diffuser to behave optimally, the device must be periodic....

...It must be remembered, however, that manufacturing costs are likely to mean that a narrow base shape with a large number of repeats is going to be the cheapest build''

I think you cannot base the models only in theory but in practise, and the book provides evidence from expreriments they did, so it is a respectful source.

The ceiling diffusers (skyline) is the basic shape that is again verified in the book. I believe in the idea to create diffusers that work at different frequencies for more variability. Eventually at our webpage we will create different sections with gathered photos of how the job was done (step by step), we are just to bussy at the moment ordering equipment. It is not difficult to make them if you have the plans and the materials, it is jsut time consuming, but you save money in labor by doing it at your free time

Thanks!!!

They are made from plastic (like the credit cards) whenever we give it to people they like it and we know that they will not throw it away. It is common to end up with loads of business cards made from paper (i have the same problem!!!). I believe it was a good choice and cheap (first 500 for free and 400eyros per 1000 cards)

Quick update

We had a visit from Dolby last week and everything goes by the schedule. Still lots of things to consider about the design of the control room but one step at a time.

This is the warehouse. We nee o cover or the HVAC ducts so they will not get harmed from moving gear in and out and we need to build shelves and store cabinets for guitars, amps etc.

Quick update

The appointment with Dolby Labs in UK went as planned.

Plans for the control room are under process as well as the speaker set-up
(Different for 5.1 and different for mastering main monitors)

Some cool ideas may come up for the installation, but we are still working on that.

Hahaha, thanks

About the photos the credits go to my brother Jordan. He is doing very good job (Am I biased???...)

I am in the UK trying to set-up equipment deals and monitor setups that will work better for any engineer that wants to use the studio.

Hopefully we will survive in the market offering as many things we can
(rehearsal, tracking, mixing, mastering, post production and dolby certified formats) in reasonable prices

I hope the dream will come true..

I won't use pitch correcting software. I use "coaching" maybe you've heard of it. It keeps working even when you don't have it on.

Good choice! Are you building your own desk to fit those sweet things or just pre-fab?
PS: I hope that you have the right and updated build version of the Controler. Just check out the euphonix topic here on GS about some probs of the early versions!
