| Lives for gear | ITB/Hybrid workstation Thought I'd share the workstation that I just had built. A GS buddy of mine designed it and I had a carpenter put it together. We're gonna make some tube steel speaker stands so the speakers can be placed above the racktops without touching them. The workflow is awesome. ![]() http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...6/IMG_3419.jpg ![]()

| Speakers are currently set way too wide. Should be set vertically, and fully inside their current position, to get an accurate left-center-right balance without phasing issues at the mix position. Tilt forward to get them on-axis, and beware of comb filtering off the desktop part. Mopads are all you need. |

I'll try the things you mentioned but so far they sound a lot better than when they were on the console which was 1 big comb filter plus I'm able to bring the workstation out farther from the wall than my console which has helped in the bass region a lot.

| Comb filtering can actually sound very nice in fact. But unfortunately you're the only one who will hear it that way. For $40 I would start with mopads...they will always be useful. I see you have the sub off to the right. All I really care about is being able to hear as well as possible, and ideally, the ability to tweak settings from the sweetspot. I have an omnirax commander (10yrs old, still great) which leaves me in similar arrangement to yours, although I also have an 88 key controller across the front. |
