Garage Studio Build

Alright so I'm building a small studio in my garage, It's a day-by-day thing, once I start a project, I really can't take any days off without finishing them. Today it was just completely emptied, tommorow I will be scrubbing it so that I build over a clean surface. The area I'm working in is 10X11X8'4".

Here it is emptied out:

I'm just hoping I can get a nice sounding room that I can enjoy recording in without worrying about picking up unwanted noises in my takes.

your dimensions are almost a cube. you have some acoustics being built in the walls you're making? what are your plans there? just curious...

Well you can't tell by the photo, but the back wall is slighty slanted upwards, breaking free from the parallelism with the front wall, and I will doing that with the opposide side wall as well.

Three of the four walls I'm constructing are up! Building this has been really tiring. Tommorow I plan to finish up the fourth wall. Tuesday maybe
I'll get the insulation, then I have some time off till next weekend to wait for the electrical lines to be dropped.

Did you double up sheetrock on existing walls? Are you putting sheetrock on both sides of walls that you are constructing (would this cause triple leaf) I am getting ready to start my garage studio also. Thinking about hanging sound curtains between existing walls and walls being constructed. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Keith

Looking pretty cool! According to Alton Everest, you'll probably need some bass traps, as your space is about 900 cubic feet, a little smaller than the ideal 1500 cubic feet minimum. Probably nothing a few corner traps won't solve, but something to be aware of. You also might want to take get some nice diffusors, they may help with flutters, etc.

It's a big undertaking, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!

Actually finished! I used two sheets of sheetrock on the interior walls and that did more than enough this room is quiet!

I'm deffinitely treating this room as it is one giant reverb trap right now.

I'll post new pics up ASAP.
