| Gear nut | Open doors good absorbers?
Hey, the pictures shows my new studio room. I only wanna produce and mix. My question is if I should leave the doors in the corners open? Or are the low frequencies reflected from the wall of the other rooms back in my studio room? You know what I mean? Any experiences with that? And if you have some other useful suggestions for my room let me know! Thanks! |

| Gear nut | Here is my room! Room lenght is 15,09 ft the width is 13,12 ft! The speakers are 2,6 ft away from the walls! In the front corners left/right are the doors! These are the doors I wanna leave open! The distance from the doors to the walls of the other rooms is 12 ft! If I have a 50 Hz wave its lenght is 22,5 feet. How much of the energie would come back in my room? Makes it sense to leave the doors open or is it uncontrollable? I'm thinking about that because there is no space for absorbers in the front corners because there are the doors. But I think I have many modal frequencies in my room because it's nearly a square! The room is 9.5 ft high!! Sorry for my bad english! Thanks! |

| Your English is fine. Most rooms have 12 corners, not 4, so there's 8 more places for bass traps. ![]() The only way to answer the rest of your questions is to measure the bass response in your room at high resolution. I use the ETF software for Windows described HERE, but there's also Fuzzmeasure for Macs and Room EQ Wizard for Windows. --Ethan
