Just remember that. other then that though, it looks nice.
The scooped ceiling are still there - but now the are behind the ceiling of the floating room. The existing structure didn't provide for enough isolation, we therefore needed to build floating rooms.

I still consider ourselves lucky since we have built some great looking and sounding rooms that are a pleasure to work in where all our clients (those who have been here so far) feel very much at home - both soundwise and in terms of comfort...

Mischa,

You need to get an english version of your site online. I'm interested in your mastering services but my deutch is not that good.
I'm sure I'm not the only one.

BTW, that mastering room is a killer.

Mischa im very pleased that the studio is finished, and looking/sounding fantastic. I can assure you that the machinist responsible for the delay with the diffractals has been sacked...

OMG, I almost forgot about that - we are very happy everything turned out and fortunately too busy keeping up with all the work to pay for all of this to worry about the minor hickups during construction... So, what happened to the first batch of diffractals - have you been able to sell these?

Thanks man, the english version should have been online for quite a while I guess, but as I mentioned in the last post we have been busy working and there is only so much you can do in a day...

hey, congratulations on the studio build, great work!

If you don't mind I'd like to ask what company makes the ceiling lights in the below pic of your foyer? I have seen these a lot in Switzerland / Austria, but I couldn't find them in Germany yet. Thanks!

What's New?

There hasn't been a real update for quite a while - fortunately things now change and evolve at a much slower pace than during construction.

The last couple of months we have been busy working, and (in terms of booking) things are going better than expected so far...

The biggest news are that we finally received and installed our Manley Mastering Backbone (Serial #001) in August. It seems to mate perfectly with our Avocet and we are very happy with the resulting sound and the ease of workflow. Compared to direct patching we even managed to lower the noise floor - which doesn't seem to make much sense, but that's what we observed. I included some pics.

As usually in a Studio there are constant tweaks and little upgrades, the most notable seems to be that as hard as we try - we can't accustom to the sound of the PMC speakers. At the moment we use an ADAM S2A setup for surround work (Studio 2), which seem to work a lot better for all the Engineers as the translation between the rooms (Quested in the SSL Room, B & W in Mastering, ADAM in Post Pro and the EDIT suites) is a lot better now.

Besides our regular schedule we are busy working on our website - the English version should be online soon, as well as our new Online Mastering Services. I'll post an Update as soon as this is available.

Update

It's only two years ago now (almost) that we have completed the studio construction, but a couple of months ago we decided it was time to upgrade Studio 2 - where we added a hybrid mix setup built arround a SSL Matrix and 2 X-Racks and changed monitoring from PMC to ADAM. In addition to the SSL Matrix, which is really worth it's money, we now also have a nice selection of outboard gear from API, Dangerous, Empirical Labs, Eventide, Focusrite, Lexicon, Manley, Tube Tech, TC, Urei, Universal Audio... (in addition to an extensive plugin collection).

It's a joy to use and so far it has been a great success for us and we started getting back into mixing some music again!

I included some pics - I hope you enjoy:

Thanks a lot! I'm sure you won't regret your decission. We had a 6056 E/G+ before that and I have to say, while it was kind of sad to let the large format console go the workflow with the Matrix works a lot better with the needs of todays customers. Soundwise it's different, but in a good way. It's got that SSL sound, but is still a lot cleaner and more open sounding. At least this are my first impressions - I haven't spent much time with the Matrix though since I'm more a mastering guy...

This is a current picture of my room, by the way:
