Thanks for all the nice things you've all said thus far! It's been great to have you cats along for the ride.

This is a modest photo update -- I only had my camera phone so pardon the crap quality.

We took delivery of our GIK order. There were two forklifts full in all .. sixteen boxes of 4' x 2' x 1'. Was quite a load. Here's a few pictures of the boxes, though they were all spread out around the place.

Since we had already rented a huge truck for the GIK, we decided to spend the whole day and move all of our gear from the basement it has all been hiding out in for the last four months ... and bring it to its new home!!! Most of it is now hiding out in the ISO booth for the time being.

We also have a bunch of instruments and amps waiting in the hallway.

And finally, here's a couple of shots of the slatted ceiling piece that will have eight globe lights hanging from it it shortly. Right now there's just a couple of temp bulbs in there.

That's it for now. Stay tuned, this week we're going to be hanging all of the bass traps, slapping all the gear into the desk, and as long as the Redco order comes in, wiring it all up!!!

Happy Christmas to you all, this has been fun so far, and it's only just beginning I'm sure.

Matthew,

I am going to be in and out of the office this week, but if you need anything tell the guys at the GIK plant that you want my cell number.

Looks like you are getting pretty close to pushing record!!!!!

News, but no new photos. We set up our gear and played a rehearsal in the room to get a feel for how it's sounding. We hadn't put any of the GIK traps up yet, nor had we done the second row of homemade traps (we only had traps along the bottom and on the ceiling, so nothing in the corners or on the upper walls) ... and MAN was it ever live. Far too live to play in.

But that's to be expected with that much exposed drywall. Yesterday we were back in installing more traps, and we'll hopefully have one more solid day of that tomorrow and then we'll try it again. I bet it'll sound glorious once they're all up.

But it's a reminder that this is certainly not an easy science, tuning a live room! :-)

Happy New Year all you crazy cats.

Alright, more photographic evidence. Feels so nice to have all the traps up now. Looking pretty great. Made the room feel even bigger, strangely. And, sounding very focused and still nice and lively in there. Last few pictures will show our good old ancient piano after it arrived....

Hey, thanks gents.

AMIEL - The black ones are all GIK. All of the red ones are homemade, and covered with variations of a deep red persian kind of fabric. The black and red are going great together!

TRUE NORTH - yeah, we set up the instruments even before the traps were up .. which before resulted in an overly echoey and unplayable room. But now, things are nice and focused....

Oh God, we're closing in on this thing now....

That was pretty damn smart of you to put those red panels in that way!! I did my own drum room that way and found it to have a very nice mix of reflective/absorption sound to the room. Bryan (the guy who I work with) turned me on to doing this way. Not that it is a true diffusor but the wells in between the panels does diffuse some what. I try to talk our customers into doing this a lot, but it does get a little pricey, but I think it is well worth it.

BTW, be sure to send me some final pictures to put up on our website. THESE ROCK!!!!!!!

You guys are all so nice, thanks so much for the nice words.

And a big extra thanks to Bryan and Glenn -- you guys were a great help when planning the trapping in the room. And yes Glenn -- we'll have some final pics once the final lighting is in place and I'll get that to you as soon as it's ready.

Our redco cable order should be in early next week, and then we wire everything up. Still looking forward to seeing that desk all filled up with analog-y goodness!!
