Tough decision...

Hey all.

It's with a heavy heart that I announce that we are going to be shutting down the recording studio and selling it all off.

Our band has taken off much quicker than we'd anticipated, and as such, we just haven't had the time to run the place like it needs to be run. It has so much potential, but the time involved in acquiring projects and actually producing is just too much for us to handle.

SO, we've got two options:

A) Find someone who would like to purchase a turnkey recording studio, with killer sounding room and incredible gear... or....

B) Sell all the gear off.

If no one steps forward with any interest to buy the studio as it is soon, we're going to start selling the gear. I'll be posting the gear list to the classified section soon.

If any of you have any interest (in the studio as a whole, or in individual pieces of gear), please do feel free to contact me and we'll talk.

And thanks to you all for all the support over the last year and a half or so. You're all amazing, and I really appreciate the encouragement and help you all provided.

Onto the next adventure, I guess.....

Matt

Unhappy

Hi Mr Murray,
I haven't posted anything yet on this thread but have followed it. I just can't believe that after all that work, you're going to sell it! it's heartbreaking! Maudit C__s!

If things were different for me, and I lived in Calgary, I'd rent it off you!

I'm supposing you're asking between, what, 400-700k$ for everything?

Just a guess, I know nothing about real estate.

Oh man, such a bummer...

Nah, we're just selling all the gear seperately. See our gear selling thread if you'd like to buy any of it ;-)

Thanks for the sympathy man. It does hurt, but we're onto bigger and better things. Life is fluid. We can't get too upset over these things....

Best of luck to you and the guys, Matt.
I took a glance at the list of gear for sale - and I gotta say if I had the funds I would be calling you right now.
I am happy that you and your band are off the bigger and better things - but it is a little sad to see this venture come to a halt.
The pessimistic part of me says - this may be one of the more realistic threads on this forum, as a lot of studios have to shut down for one reason or another - it is just a good thing to know that yours is shutting down for beneficial reasons.
Again - good luck to you.
Take care!

Scott

Good luck with the band!

I'm sure impressed with how the studio turned out, but you have to answer when opportunity knocks!

Matthew,

I'm a bit late finding this thread .... but I'm really shocked.

All that work building this place ... wow!
I followed the building thread from the begining, so I'm just taken back by the news your closing it down. It would of been my dream place to work.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your band though.

You guys are so bloody fantastic. It's been hard to sell it off. But the band is really taking off.

We were just selected by Spin Magazine and John Varvatos as a finalist in a worldwide contest called "Free the Noise"

Free The Noise : Bands

We're being flown to NYC next week, to play in the former CBGB's along with the other three finalists.

Pretty exciting! And we're on tour right now. Lots of exciting things happening.

So even though it was hard to sell it off, it was the right thing to do.

Besides, I still have a nice personal rig. A Phoenix DRS-Q4, a Phoenix DRS-8, an Apogee Ensemble, a Daking FET Compressor II, and a Soundelux Elux 251. I'm still a happy boy.

Thanks to you all. Your support through the years of planning and building was absolutely irreplaceable!!

Matthew,

Congrats to you and the rest of the band on your New York gig!

Fellow slutz: Check out "How Do You?" and "Spooning The Gorilla" off the Fast Romantics album. Great stuff.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors Matthew!

I have to admit that i am sad to hear that the studio is closed.

I recently built my own studio, and while its smaller than yours, i have noticed some striking similarities. We both chose GIK Acoustics and Redco. My studio is earthy brown tones as well. My control room is asymmetrical, with the right-hand wall being closer to the desk than the left-hand wall. I have some Chandler gear as well. Instead of NS-10s i have HS50m's. I also had long florescent lights in the ceiling when we began construction. My flooring looks almost exactly the same.

It's kinda weird actually because i just discovered this thread, and now i see that i sort of have a "little brother" version of your studio.

Anyway, good luck in the future and thank you for providing us gearslutz with such a great studio build thread!

So sad to see the images are all gone/missing. This studio was beautiful. Are any studio photos elsewhere online, Matthew?
