Puerto Rican Cuatro

So I got one of these instruments a few months back. I had never heard of it until I saw it in a used music shop, thought it looked/sounded cool so now I have it.

Anyway, my first issue is I need to figure out some sort of pickup system that would make playing live with amplification easier. For band practices and such I tried micing it, worked ok but made it kind of uncomfortable to play and sing at the same time.

Also, has anyone recorded one of these things before? So far my go to has been a wooden blondie, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with mics that work great with it. I haven't been able to find much info on them, and I don't play it in a traditional style, so I've just been experimenting.

Sorry for the vague questions.... basically I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Puerto Rican Cuatro, if so, please share it with me! Thanks.

-Danny
