Smile Kurzweil K2661 vs Kurzweil PC361

Whats the difference between this two?
What is missing on the PC 361?
Can I take it and will be happy with it
or will I, someday, be sad because
I miss a feature on the K2661?

The K2661 has a "sampling" option and "live mode" option that technically allow you to use the "V.A.S.T." FX program with a live instrument or mic. There is also an SCSI port that connects to a hard drive for additional sampling capabilities. I believe the 361 does not use these....yet?...

Tech is about as predictable as death.

I believe there is also a vocoder and several pedal switches/controllers that may not be on 361. You should download and look at the specs simultaneously and compare the two for yourself. Make sure if you want to record on a computer you have an interface. (And yes, I own a 661) I admit I have not tapped more than a percentage of it's capability and quality, more so because I'm still learning.

Sure. I can imagine the 361 may be even more exciting due to PC connectivity, more simplicty, and better FX. No one can predict the future. It may be a good idea to take the plunge now, or it may not. If you let that keep you from making a decision though, you're screwed. Read all the fine print you can, and think how it will apply to your music.

To me Kurzweil is part of history. Beyond that...Timing (361 didn't exist), Connectivity (8 I/O), and Convenience of purchase (bought locally for a good deal less than retail). These were the real selling points for the 661 for me.....

Smile Kurzweil

I took the Kurzweil PC361 a week ago.
Very happy.
I hope the expansions will come out soon.
The rom sockets can capture 64 and 128 mb roms.
With the 64 mb standard it would have up to 320 MB
of waveforms! Like a Yamaha motif.

Unhappy PC3 ROM expansion

The 64 MB ROM should be released since a year or so. Than they
told the people it should be release in january. Now its march. Very
sad. I hope they will release a 128 MB RAM too but the price of
the PC3 is dropping and so maybe they are not interested to produce it.
I hope a "K3000" will be released soon.
