Thread Starter | Wireless microphone for Cajon and/or precussion?
Hello, I play a cajon and I was wondering if it is possible to not be 'chained' to the microphone and the soundhole in one position. I play all sides of the cajon and usually move around on it to accomodate. However, I would like to move the cajon around so I can always face the front of the stage without having to reposition the microphone and stand every time. Is there (or can there be one made/adapted) a wireless unit that either clamps on the cajon itself or even inside it? Thanks, |

Hm...hopefully that doesn't sound like ignoring your question, but maybe just a clamp that attaches the mic to the cajón already helps. I happen to like this pretty inexpansive one very much - the geometry is just right and it even has a hook for the cable: "t.bone srm 1" the t.bone SRM1 A little stronger built (actually like a Mack truck) but geometrically not necessarily superior to the t.bone are these two: "K&M 24030" Km 24030 Mikrofon-Halterung für Drums and "K&M 24035" K&M 24035 NICKEL Then you have a cheap solution and just have the cable getting on your nerves ![]() I don't know so much about wireless clip-on mics, but you might like some of these mics that are for horns. They take high SPL and are small. |

Not much activity on some of there sub-fora, huh? I recently had a musical theater gig where the cajon was a featured instrument and a mic/stand combo simply wouldn't work. After some testing, ended up using a Shure wireless lavalier mic; wrapped the transmitter in a piece of foam and gaffer-taped it to the bottom of the inside of the cajon- the sound hole was just big enough for one of my gorilla mitts to fit thru. using some 'creative taping', the mic element sat atop the foam pack. Tried both cardioid and omni; unsurprisingly, omni had more consistent sound (player used front and both sides of cajon) and was okay with being kicked about/on/off the stage. The cardioid could work with say, a coat hanger armature, IF the player only plays the front... ![]() batteries were a pain- wired versions are available if that would work better for you. Good luck!
