Few know that Ben Franklin was the inventor of that instrument...

It's a very obscure and haunting sounding instrument for sure!

Are there any really good sample-sets out there, of a good glass armonica?

I remember an audio professor years ago, talking about the acoustics in Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. He said something to the effect when you talked it was like the early reflections were rebroadcast in the middle of your brain :D

It's not unthinkable at one time Franklin could have showed up at Monticello with this suitcase glass armonica (and a jug of water ) and jammed out some of the earliest New Age music ever known :D

Supposedly people used to freak out and faint upon hearing the Glass Armonica.

But yeah that'd be neat to take samples and try to recreate Monticello in some reverb program that models well.

This has got me seriously brainstorming, I'll be back to edit

Back in the mid-1980s I helped design & install a modest recording studio for this guy:
GFI Scientific glass blowing products and services

Quite possibly the coolest client I've had to date!

Yeah. I saw the price tag:

"Starting at $7,745.00"?
