Ground Loop Hum

I am using a presonus audiobox going out to 2 yamaha hs50m monitors. When used on a laptop, with or without the power supply hooked up, i get no ground loop hum. When used on my desktop, i do have ground loop hum. I do not have the option of isolating the circuit because i live in a dorm. Would purhcasing an ebtech hum-x and plugging the desktop into it remove this ground loop hum or is the problem internal within the desktop?

Are the monitors and Desktop plugged into the same outlet?
'Try that!

also, does the audiobox have a separate power supply...plug it into the same outlet!

Yes they are plugged into the same outlet. The audiobox runs off of pc power, thats why im wondering if the hum x would make a difference.

For the price, it would be worth a try.
Before you buy it; if you have a volt-meter, measure the A/C voltage between your ground and neutral. There should be little to no voltage there. If there is voltage between the ground and neutral, the hum x would likely help.

Also, use good XLR or TRS balanced cables where possible and route the cables away from power cables and electronic components.
