Mic buzz....

I have Logic Pro 8, with a Audiobox 22vsl-Studio 1 v2 audio interface..

Everything is working fine except when I go to hook up my mic....No voice sound is being picked up. I see the indicators showing something when I lightly tap on the top but nothing else....But, a loud buzz/hum

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, phantom power on........I am wondering if it is a connection problem, like a bad wire???..Don't know...

Can be. Or a faulty mic, or something with the interface. Does other stuff work, like DI or things like that? Do you have another cable to test it with?

It is just interesting that when I even lightly touch the mic I hear clicking sounds and the output meters shows it is there.......I guess I will keep trying until I can get a new Mic cable tomorrow......Thanks!

It should work when you talk or sing into it though. Clicking sound is not enough.

You are using a standard 3 pin XLR cable, right?

I hear you.....No voice sound at all....Everything else seems to be working fine...I tried two different condenser mics and get the same results........Seems like it very well could be the cables..........Drats!...Thanks!

Just a guess but it seems that your body may be completing the ground on the mic. Hence the clicking sound and meter display when you touch the mic.

If a new cable doesn't work it could be the XLR In on your pre.

Makes sense..I will be going to GC to check the cable and mic......

I am hoping so bad that it is the cable, otherwise I am going to have to send my Presonus back and then wait for another one...
Time, time, time,,,,wasted time

Thanks LoFi

You were right LoFi..........The problem is the unit itself in the XLR input jack.

Thanks for the help Tenderwet as well!
