Recording Studio Issues (multi part question) !

I am a folk musician looking to record some of the music that I have together.I was thinking about using the Tascam-DP008 but the problem that I have with it is that it has phantom power for both XLR slots...I wanted to use a ribbon microphone with this device but I am afraid that it could possibly destroy the microphone. Is their anyway around this issue?

I also wanted to get your opinion on what I wanted to invest in for my small recording studio. Here is the list below:

TASCAM DP-008 8-Track Digital Portastudio
MXL R144 Ribbon Microphone
MXL V63M Condenser Studio Microphone
M-Audio StudioPro 3 Desktop Audio Monitors
Microphone Stands
(Did I leave anything out?)

I am mainly going to use this setup to record my acoustic guitar/vocals/ and harmonica playing. No guitar amplifiers or effects. I am going for a sixites type sound.

Thanks for the Help !

Perhaps a mod will move this to the right forum - this forum is about room design/construction

i would strongly recommend getting some sort of interface for a computer recording. computer based recording software is way easier to use and set up then any portastudio. and theres a lot of options for cheap out there. presonus is a great place to start. they even have there own software. and if you have a mac, garage band is super easy to use and has a lot of great tools. mic choices are pretty decent for entry level folk stuff. Presonus audio box usb is only $150 with two mic pres and SWITCHABLE phantom power. and it looks like it comes with some software.
