Selling a plug in....um....

Howdy - I just got the full version of transient designer (wow!) which renders the SPL attacker meaningless now so I'd like to sell this. How does that happen!?

Oh it happens

It's gonna be hard to sell everything once you've found a replacement for it.

Check with the manufacturer 1st on licensing provisions.

They all have different methods, it can get to be a bit much to transfer a license.
Then you have to post the item for sale somewhere, and wait, wait.
Check what the product is going for online, maybe you are charging too much.
OK, now someone is interested. Now, PayPal account... trusted member?
The guy wants the box and manual, now your into shipping...

See?

Consider that the SPL attack has already paid for itself, since you have used it, and still have the music, possibly sold the rights.

Now you can afford to "upgrade" it.

Forget the old one, maybe it's possible it uses less CPU for the attack phase only? Or use it on a spare laptop?

Thanks! I only bought the attacker a couple of weeks ago, but had an offer from SpL - presumably cos I've bought other stuff from them, to by TD for a reduced amount. I wouldn't mind if I bought attacker even 3 months ago! ANyway you're probabyl right - for the hassle it's just not worth it!

Sage advice. Thanks!

Yeah, I have. See above. That is what happens. I wasn't lying

You contact the manufacturer. They give you the policy to follow. Sometimes you have to pay a fee to transfer a license, which you may or may not incorporate into your sale price.

You post your goods online. Ensure the price is comparative/fair. Make sure you have all materials related to the product ready to mail.

Wait until someone is interested. Work out a deal, arrange shipping, arrange payment.. If you're honest you will delete the installed software off of your HD.

It's not complicated, it's just a process that you might not want to deal with everytime a new plugin comes around. Digital stuff isn't worth anything, that is the game you're playing, so if you want to get into transfering licensed software, be ready for some legwork. Or just buy hardware. Not that HW is any easier, especially dealing with strangers at your front door and transferring in hard cash can get real, real quick.
