connectivity

OK, so I've just discovered Ross Martin Audio converters. I'm not well versed, however, in the realm of stand alone A/D D/A.

My question is, how would these units wire up to an iMac and, if necessary, each other?

From Ross Martin Audio site:

Optical and SPDIF inputs( RCA or BNC). Studio Quality Reference Mastering DAC

Looks like it only has Spdif or ADAT connectivity. For wich you will need...a audio interface !

Maybe you can hook spdif connectors with a cheap soundcard on a home based system and get away with it for low cost.

Sounds like test project if this is your first time buying a audio interface I'd suggest buying something you'll be sure to make music from.

But it is interesting for the price/quality thing plus it's hand made but a little tricky to get it running and how will it respond after??...Would be nice if you can test it before.

I think they have a DAC with USB connectivity. Do I just lightpipe the ADC to the DAC and call it a day or does the ADC need to connect directly to the computer as well?

I know I sound really new. I'm trying to stay away from the all-in-one box this time.

You need to go in the computer AD--=>computer then out the computer DA-->speakers .

I think you should start here:

So, what type of connection is required for AD-->computer? And if it's something other than USB, FW, Thunderbolt-- and considering not many audio interfaces come without onboard pres-- how is the connection made?
