Recording with stereo reverb

I have a question about recording mono sources with stereo reverbs through a patchbay into Cubase:

While recording, if I use a patchbay and patch a mono source from the output of a preamp into a stereo reverb that has two inputs, does it matter if I patch into the left or right channel of the stereo reverb? Will the mono source have a stereo field spread when it is played back through Cubase's channel fader?

Or, am I better off recording to a channel that already has a send to an FX channel that has the stereo reverb as an insert, and record the track and the reverb simultaneously? The problem as I see it doing that way is that I have to use the reverb used for the rest of the tracks that are sent to the reverb FX channel insert. Since I am still in the tracking phase, I don't want to print the tracks and the reverb which would free up the reverb for a new sound. So, I'd prefer to track through the patchbay, but not sure how to do it.

Thanks for any advice.
