There are several instruments playing in that clip, when you load the midi into your DAW does it open up as 1 midi clip or several?
If it loads all on 1 piano roll then it will be quite difficult to get it the same unless you're quite musical & can pick out the notes. If it loads as several clips then bingo bango, listen back to the track & pick synths to match the sounds It won't sound exact as I'm sure there will be some reverb & delays in there but you can play around to make it more your own

Ardour is probably the most famous open source (hence : free) DAW on the market but I really don't like it. Do you really need it to be free ? When do you need it ? We've got a DAW under development. We plan to release a beta version in a couple of months and it's not restricted (you can save, export and do whatever you'd do with a full version), but because it's beta, it's free. Otherwise, you've got plenty of commercial options, starting with reaper (shit I think I'm advertising for competition ) which is very good and very cheap.
