Can someone please help me with setting up my Studio

Have my mic which is the Bby Blue Bottle, I will more than likely be using Reason as the DAW, I am a PC user (pretty shiit one but it'll do), but I just need the actual audio interface to be in place and don't know what to choose.

I'd say my budget is up to $600. I will be recording rap and soul type music. What preamp and converters would you recommend, or should I get an all in one interface with a soundcard included and all? I just want 'great' sounding quality, 'almost' CD quality. Please help with suggestions

If you don't need more than two channels, Sound Devices Usbpre2 has good, clean pres with tons of gain.

Looks good actually but I don't think I could have much faith in such an unknown brand, as bad as that sounds

N I'm looking for something just slightly better than the focusrite but nothin that will break the bank

Sound Devices has been around for many years and has a good reputation for making clean sounding products with good specs. Id be surprised if the Focusrite actually sounded better. FWIW

Your choice of course but Sound Devices make some very expensive, pro-quality, location audio gear much in demand by movie-makers. They're a Rolls-Royce brand.

Oh my bad, they do seem quite renowned. And yeah it does seem to have some good reviews, it's just a bit expensive over what I was willing to pay. I think I'd rather get the Babyface over this which is a slight bit cheaper, but even then the babyface is highly expensive which is why I was looking for something a little bit lower in price (and very slightly quality), just feels like the gap is huge between this and focusrite's, echo's etc

oh and btw does anyone know which focusrite has the best converters? that's what's putting me off them, I know they have great preamps but I was looking for a model which has high quality converters as well.

They couldn't come up with a better name though? everytime I go looking for other types of models they have it just comes up with other 'actual' sound devices

I highly recommend getting an audio interface that includes pre amp, converters, etc. Babyface and Apogee (if you have a Mac) are certainly nice if you could afford them. But I also recommend the Motu Microbook II. Rock solid with great features. MOTU has a good reputation and the has been used by pros. Should be a good interface to start out and also leave you some cash for mics or refills and rack extensions for Reason.

I can't really find much on it but it sounds quite good from what I can find. I just want something that will bring a lot.of clarity in my vocals. I'm heavily considering this though, read a few people having driver problems though..
