Reason 5 Rewire issues with Pro tools 8

I have been watching tutorials on how to connect Reason to Pro Tools, however, the step where I connect the NN-XT directly to the Hardware device inputs.

Automatically the NN-XT connects to the audio output of the hardware interface. When I disconnect the cables to connect them into the inputs 1 and 2 like they do in the videos, the cables are grey and they won't let me connect. When I right-click on the inputs, it also shows that the NN-XT is unavailable to connect.

I noticed that it says the inputs are un-available. Now when the cables are connected to the outputs of the hardware device, that it does play and record in Pro Tools, however, I can't playback the sounds.

I set up Pro Tools in this way: I opened a stereo instrument track. Then I opened a reason insert. This opened reason and it synced fine.

My ultimate goal is to be able to connect Dr. Octo Rex and NN-XT to Pro tools so I can record myself playing piano and to record drum loops..

PLEASE HELP GENTLEMAN!

have you tried connecting it to the interface 3-4? are you sure you connected it right...there are also inputs on the hardware interface in Reason!

if it wont work out...try an other thing:

-export the drumloop from reason as wave/aiff file
-close reason
-open PT
-improt the drumloop
-set the right tempo in PT
-make a new stereo track
-record enable it
-hit the record button and play the piano

cheers
