Just autotune and double tracked. A lot of it is just his obnoxious voice. Please spare the world from this garbage.

Hey PTnewbie. There's a rap specific forum here on GS. You'll find others who are more into that genre there and receive less degradation.

Auto tune
Chorusing effect - Aux send
Reverb
Compression
Delay
^^^^ auto tune is the actual effect with a chorus plug to make it sound full with vocal stacks and I assume you know about compression verb and delay

Not necessarily, especially when it comes to Auto-tune.

if he asks newbie questions there they'll just redirect him to this forum anyways.. but you could use auto tune i personally like melodyne more, you can get more in depth a lil easier with it. but i think its more to do then just auto-tune i would say it has a good amount of eq to it and also probably ran threw a analog console to give it that smoothness.. something 40 is known for is filtering sounds and im pretty sure he does that a lot with drakes vocals.

Im aware of them but never used them after adding effects like reverb delay etc
I'll give it a shot though!

When I think Robots I think Vocoders - Waves has one called Morphoder... may not be "the best" (I have no idea) but it's usually being blown out stupid cheap... use the above techniques and/or a vocoder and you'll be in future rap heaven!

just got to use it gently.. a little goes a long way as long as you got it tuned right.. and i personally thought his last one was one of his best albums. but i find myself listening to more production and engineering side of music now a days. its hard to enjoy it just for whats said and the beat like i used to back in the day.

Its a great PLUG IN , and waves makes some really intersting MS plugs as well to make things un-naturally wide...lol and as for T- pain I agree his last and first and every album in between wasn't too great , we the record making community, are also consumers, I for one wont use that effect on anything but maybe the News to make it more interesting, I am not against it , but jaded by its over-use in mainstream music and all music for that matter, My philosophy is sing it right the first time, and stop relying on effects to doctor it up.... just my opinion

Stop it right now.

There is a reason the newbie forum exists, and there is a reason the rap forum is shit 70% of the time. Don't direct any newbie threads to the rap forum unless it is one that other people want to read and participate in.

No insult toward you though PTnewbie.
