Overdub same bass tracks?

If you want a "guitar wall" you have to record many same guitar tracks.

*Why for bass we only take one shot and stop? Why we don't overdub bass more and more?

Yep, newbie question :-)

thanks in advance

I suppose because one is normally enough, and by stacking the bass you'll soon have it over-powering the whole mix.
