Thread Starter | Sampling a song (help)
I've never sampled a song before, let alone made a beat. I'm looking for information on how to sample a song. Any videos, tutorials, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

There are so many ways to sample. You can loop, chop, reverse, warp etc. Pick which you are trying to do, or which combination, and search Youtube. But basically you just need to cut out a few bars and make sure they are cut along the tempo of that track. Then arrange as you please. But the software/hardware that you are using makes a big difference. Im pretty sure you can use the search function on this forum and find plenty of advice as well.

I think the best thing to do is to learn what your sampling with. Learn how it works. Listen to songs and how they work, breakdown, and are constructed. Your doing it right if It's not as much fun as just listening the song and it seems like work. Cuz that's what it is. Chop up some samples, breaks, stabs, guitar, and have fun. Drag a simple rap song that has a well known sample in it. Do it like they Did it, then do it your way, then do it better than that or use just some of the chops with different chops of a different sample or your own instrumentation. Keep your sample chops and name them for future reference and orginazation. |

| I'd say go on your computer first and take what you want in the song (in audacity, ableton, whatever) and only save that part, and then chop it, take the 16-32 clips you have from that and put it on the memory utensil
